On the topic of the whole "no legendaries"...That doesn't seem like a very good stipulation, as there's plenty of legendaries that are not considered "broken", or even good (Articuno, for example). On the flip side, there ARE some non-legendaries that are considered broken/Uber tier (Blaziken being a great example).

Perhaps some kind of amendment should be made?

Panels and Workshops / Re: Too controversial?
January 17, 2012, 11:11:50 PM
I think it's less about being "controversial" (It's an anime convention, come on), and more of it just being radically out of place (It's an anime convention, come on). While I wholly support the LGBT community, I really don't think running a panel so out of line with the nature of the convention makes any sort of sense. I'd say the exact same thing about any other political/social/what-have-you related panel.

If you really want to talk about this before an audience, organise a meeting or event outside of, say, an anime convention. As a previous poster said, if people want to go, they'll go.

No. MANime will not be seen. It will be experienced. A raw, visceral experience, that will take your mind...nay, your very soul, on a journey into nirvana.

Imagine, if you will, cresting the peak if a mountain on the first morning of spring, just as the sun leaves it's cradle. Imagine suckling upon the fresh dew that condensed on the newborn grass sprouts, as you cast your gaze across the realm of man. Imagine that, within that gaze, you saw all of man. Their struggles, their triumphs, and the great drama that is mankind...all within the scope of a pair of unblinking eyes. Imagine closing your eyes, and leaping from the precipice of that mountain, and the sensation of falling through the crisp, cold air. Moments before impact, a roaring dragon locked in mortal combat with a state-of-the-art F-22 fighter jet swoops to your rescue, scooping you up into it's mighty claws, and whispering in it's thunderous baritone that you will live to see the end of this day. Before it can make good on this promise, however, you sense another. Upon the back of the fighter jet is a man, hardened and grizzled with the wear and tear of a thousand battles. Your eyes meet; You know what you must do. You leap from the safety of the dragon's claw, onto the back of the fighter jet, and engage the man in fisticuffs as Queen's "Princes of the Universe" begins to blare in your ears. Your heart pounds, your body screams, and suddenly the jet, along with you and your rival, explodes into a ball of flaming wreckage as the dragon's flaming breath envelopes it. All seems lost, until you burst free from the wreckage upon a motorcycle, completely unscathed. Upon returning home you are heralded as a hero. Assured that your legend will live on forever, you ride into the sunset, never to be seen again...

Now, I ask you, imagine that is only the second greatest thing to happen in your life.

MANIME 2: THE LEGEND OF THE GOLDEN SKULL

I'm signed up for it, but every time I try to run the game, it says it can't find some map file or something.

That means you have to run it through the folder it's in and not the start menu shortcut. You can create a shortcut manually and place it on the desktop.

Wow. Now I feel silly.

I'll be re-installing this sometime this week.

There's going to be a patch released this october. Included are nerfs for both Nu and Arakune.

I can only hope they remove Ragna the Scrubedge from the game. /wishfulthinking/

Also, does anyone still play at SVGL, or is it a ghost town since the console version came out?

Just in case you all need a reminder:

May 30th is the Nor Cal Blazblue ranbat at SVGL.

...And here's the tournament results for the Fanime Aksys Games Blazblue Console Ranbat (Videos will be posted on their website accordingly):

1) Veteru (RG)
2) Taokakaftw (TA)
3) CopperDabbit (AR)
3) TheSadder (HA)

So - yeah - a Hakumen placed 3rd in the tourney.  Doesn't sound too bad eh?

Bah. He just got lucky and didn't have to fight Arakune in the quarter finals. /bitter/

The dance was great. I only went on sunday, and the music was awesome (so was the view *COUGH* ;D). I was the dude with the green glowstick glasses.

The only problem was, there weren't enough people on the dance floor.

So, apparently me rage-quitting this game made me get better at it. I think i'll make the predictable return to playing.

Demon's Crest would be awesome. It's like megaman...but with demons!

My Amtgard gear
A black T-shirt for t-shirt ninja mayhem
And whatever else I deem needs to be brought.

The only character that has no chance against top tier would be Tager.

Carl and Haku-Men are equally boned against the top tier characters. The rest of the cast fares better, but not by much. Both V-13 and Arakune (but mostly V) can totally shut down every other character in the game, unless they can somehow manage to make it through a nigh endless barrage of projectile spam. Rachel (In my opinion, she's not really broken) has retarded pressure, but that's about it. Ragna just needs to die. Most of his moves have insane priority, and nearly everything he has is safe on block. As I said above, V and Arakune can both spam projectiles and play keep away the entire match with next to no problems. Of course, Arakune has to land his cloud first, but considering that it stays out until arakune gets hit AND curses on block, it's still pretty retarded. After it connects, it's just a matter of Arakune spamming bugs and playing keep away until you die. As for V, she can just do 20 hit projectile combos from full screen all day. People say that once you get in close against V and Arakune, you've got a good chance of beating them, but considering how hard it is to get in close when you have to dodge a hojillion projectiles (which are often coming at you from multiple directions), I would take this with a grain of salt.

So, as I said, major balance issues.

EDIT: The other characters do have a chance to beat these characters, it's just that it takes an insane amount of effort for most of them. (And often times luck)

when taokakaftw gets better at this game, your faith will be renewed.  :P
taokaka is the most awesome character in the game.

When they make it possible for the rest of the cast to have a remote chance at competing with the top tier characters, my faith will be renewed.

AKA major balance issues ruin an otherwise great game.

It was Ricky Ortiz vs Veteru.

Ragna vs Ragna.

:(

My faith in this game grows fainter every day.

So, I missed the Ranbat. Anything worthwhile happen, or was it just Ragna and Arakune in the finals again?

I've been slacking a bit (I hate hate hate hate putting on transfers), so most of my army is halfway between painted and a pair of legs with a torso. By con I could have my stuff painted up.
