Bump for 2017.

Since Mr. Poitras can't make it this year, we need another wizened old man to school folks on their area of expertise.

Hey there, folks!

So turns out in my half-awake mental state for Hotel Registration, I set my departure for Sunday the 29th instead of Monday the 30th.

Bummer.  :'(

I haven't yet ruled out that they might possibly allow me to stay for an extra night when I check in at the concierge desk, but I know there's no guarantees.
If not, I'm pretty sure I can manage one all-nighter.

But I don't carry much as far as luggage goes, all my clothes and stuff fit into my backpack.
So instead of lugging it around from noon on Sunday till Monday's end of con, I was looking for alternatives.

I vaguely remember in previous years, the convention had a baggage check on Monday, and I was wondering if that was an option for folks on Sunday.

If not, do you know if the Marriott will hold on to my luggage from my Sunday checkout time until Monday?

Wasn't sure whether to ask this here or in the Hotel subforum, apologies in advance.

$$$ - If you have money to burn, go to Arcadia, on the ground floor of the marriott, next to tanq, haha. Their rib-eye is pretty amazing.

$$ -If you have not as much money to burn, but still a legit amount, go to happy hour at Grill By The Alley, over at the Fairmont. They've got this delicious American Kobe Burger for 12 bucks, plus decent brews on tap.

$$ - If you want awesome pub food, head to Original Gravity Pub, or OG Pub. They've got the best selection of beer on tap in DT SJ, and a wide selection of gourmet bratwursts and sausages. That and their Duck Fat fries with truffle salt are AMAZEBALLS.

HOWEVER,

If you're just trying to survive and scrape by, there are numerous fast food options.

If you want something not from an multinational fast-food chain, it'll be marginally pricier, like LaVic's, Hoagie's, Pizza My Heart, and that Boba place. There's a Johnny Rockets nearby too.

All of these are walkable.

'03 and '04, for sooo many reasons. I wish I had come back for '05 through '10, though.

Great list... although, looking at it, some of these series feel like they were just released yesterday and we were watching them in my high school anime club (01-04).... it just hasn't hit me that I'm getting old, I guess.

Ric has been a pretty regular guest at FanimeCon for the past 8 years, '05-'12. I always loved his Superhero Kung-Fu Extravaganza, so I was wondering what happened this year? Was he unable to make it? Did we forget to ask him?

This isn't jpop(obviously) but I'd like to hear some American/European metal music like Slayer or Cradle Of Filth. Kinda out of place but I would SOOO woudl love that.

Just a thought.

I'd be down for that, hahaha.

Well, looks like registration still isn't up... I wonder what's happening.  ???

Yeah I was way too hungover to get on the Monday, haha. Oh well. I'll get it when it opens up again.
#16
So it begins... Haha ;D
Yeah, I'm down.

I just want to say this is a great thread. It's helping me recall this past weekend (which was an amazing blur of sensory overload and sleep deprivation), somehow both exacerbating and easing my Post-Con Withdrawal.  :P Can't wait till next year.

Panels and Workshops / Re: Nerd Courting Feedback

I thought it was both informative and hilarious! I wish I could have taken advantage of the Q&A session and the informal meetup afterwards, but I had to meet some friends for drinks. Next time, perhaps more concrete advice about the steps prior to dating, like approaching, etc, would be useful. I feel that merely focusing my interactions with women who are introduced through mutual friends is too limiting, but summoning my guts to just randomly approach someone without coming off like a creeper is difficult.

The Awesomely Bad J-Music Videos Panel was HILARIOUS.

Sad there was no Rock Band. :(
