This is not official word. Only Craige's word matters. His is the voice of GOD. ...in terms of hotels.

Hotel prices will probably be the same, or close to, 2006 prices. We will have the hotel reservation site ready to go within the next three months, if not sooner...

Thanks Tony... LOL!!!

Okay, the rates next year will be going up and down, counting on what you are looking for...

Double/Double rooms will be going up at the Hilton and Marriott.  Hilton will now start at $109 for a double/double, doesn't matter if it is for one or four bodies, the same price.  Marriott will be doing the same pricing, only they will be starting at $119 per room.

King rooms for both hotels will be decreasing to $85 per night.

Crowne and St Claire prices have not been agreed upon yet, but we are working on it.

Craige...

I've been contemplating going big with a Concierge Suite, now will there be a discount for such a lavish and decadent expence?

So along this lines....

Are the Marriot's Junior Suites going to be at the same discounted price as last year? Or do we not have a deal about suites this year?

up to 15 people?  you'll need doubles, four rooms for four people each.  the hotels won't let you get away with stuffing more people than that in one of the suites .... you can always reserve that many rooms and then cancel a room if there are fewer people.

I just went to the San Jose Marriott website. I looked up the rates for rooms at Fanime next year, so I could find out how much a night costs without the Fanime discount. My results showed me:

Quote from: "Marriott example"#  Quality Room >>
   * 149.00 (USD) per night
   * Rate rules
   *

     Reserve a Room

# Leisure Rate, Quality Room, 1 king or 2 double beds, room only rate

Thats just one example I learned. Thats without the discount. Wow.
So, uh thank you Fanime staff for helping out the congoers. 8)

So... when's the site going to be online to register with the fanime prices? It was online by Mid December last year. Any news to when it's going online this time?

And to ask my question again, what are the suite prices going to be this year? (Marriot specifically)

King rooms are generally intended for two people, possibly three if you ask for a rollaway. The beds may be big, but the rooms might not. If you're housing a group, for safety, legality, and security, you might want to consider a suite of some sort.

I know the Marriott is entirely non-smoking, but does anyone know if the block of rooms Fanime gets at the Hilton contains any smoking rooms? Cause that would be rather grand. Or could I just request one?
Title: 2007 Hotel Prices
Post by: Barnes on November 22, 2006, 12:02:15 PM
The Hilton does have smoking floors.

EDIT: I also need to know about the taxes and fees, etc. I want to know if those have gone up.
For example, Craige told me years ago that it was:
8.25% state tax
10% Hotel tax

All I want to know is, have those rates gone up?
Title: 2007 Hotel Prices
Post by: Moonblossom on November 22, 2006, 12:52:01 PM
Great, thanks. That significantly impacts my hotel descision. Heh.

The comforters at the Hilton are sort of hideous (Toucan Sam's bathroom floor after a night of too many Mai Tais anyone?), but the smoking rooms are a big plus.

Does anyone know if they charge for wireless access in the rooms? I know the Marriott is $9.95 a night! o.O

The taxes for the hotels haven't gone up. I'm staying at the Marriott in about a week and the taxes are about the same.

As for internet pricing, yeah I think it's 9.95 per set of 24 hours. I'm not exactly sure. Either way...it depends on how important your internet is to you while you're at the con.

Marriott ftw. ^_^

While it's true that rooms go really quick, if you don't get a room the day they open on the 1st that hardly means that you won't get a room at all. It wasn't until early April that rooms were hitting critical mass...and I don't foresee such a surge of new attendees that not getting a room the day they're open means not getting a room at all.

Just a word for those of you who might be freaking out. ^_^

I seem to remember that last year part of the rate deal for getting a king-sized bed in a Hilton room was that you couldn't get a rollaway... I'm not entirely sure on this, though...

I don't recall the Hilton having wireless access in the rooms at all.  They have an ethernet port you can use (yes, you have to pay per night for it) but when I did a search for wireless networks from my room there weren't any.  There is the free wireless downstairs, though, a nice perk.

Is the saint claire going to be avalable this year too? cuz it was totally cheap, even if the rooms were mega small. Plus, they didn't seem to have too big a problem with large groups of people in one room as long as they didn't see it.

Does the Sainte Claire have a pool, or smoking rooms? I couldn't find reference to a pool on their site, or any mention of smoking either way (entirely forbidden or smoking rooms or what..)

It's a cute-looking hotel, and the free wireless everywhere is a nice bonus. It'd depend on how much the rooms end up being though.

Due to some issues last year, me and my friends didn't get our reservation in until mid-May <3.

Even with that extremely late reservation, we still managed to book two nights in one hotel and the last night in the other. Was kind of a pain, but better than nothing at all.

So I wouldn't be worried about lack of hotels, as long as you're not incredibly picky about where you're staying.

I for one will be getting our reservation asap at the Marriot. I'm so excited ;D

I would still prefer the hilton I guess...I kinda hate waiting for the elevator at the marriott. I think this year I would limit myself to the amount of people in a room. I mean last year, we had 13 ppl in one room (double room) It was kinda hard having to wait on the bathroom, and there was no walkway because of all the merchandise we bought. so this the king room sounds pretty good for me!
I thinks it's going to be more than $340 for the weekend.

13? That's unbelievable...*slaps forehead*

Look, a double/double with 4 people comes out to 105 per person for 3 nights (Friday, Satruday, Sunday) Give or take a few bucks. Get a safe number of people and just split it. It's only 35 a night.

If you are talking about getting a King room just for yourself then it will be more like 255+tax. (Three nights remember...unless you're planning on staying Thursday?) Even getting one roommate though would help. Share a double with one other person and you both still have plenty of room and the price isn't too horrible.

In fact, I just may do that.

This is according to a post that Craige made on the first page of this thread.

Personally though, just in case, I'm not budgeting anything until the actual official housing reservations go up. $85 a night would be fecking awesome, but it seems almost unreasonable (too good to be true, anyone) considering it's less than half the standard rate of a king room at the Hilton for that timeframe, so I'd understand if the prices go up a bit before they're set in stone.

Oh, that'd be spectacular... but only if someone makes the hotels actually assign rooms based on the actual reservations.  I had a whole shenanigans with a bed switcheroo from what I reserved, which didn't matter to me, but someone else probably got a sour deal from it...  :?  Wouldn't be fair if that happened to other folks, say you reserve a room with a king bed and show up with 3-4 people and the guy puts you in a 2 double room instead... feh...

I've got most of the site ready to go but... there was a... issue with the hotel site, and so it isn't live yet.

Because the hotel site is run by a real company, that means it is maintained on company time - i.e. Monday-Friday, 9-5. It now being ~10:20pm on Friday means they probably won't finish it until Monday at the earliest.

So... looks like the website will be delayed. Or maybe I'll put up what I've got anyway. I'm not sure just yet.

If it helps, apparently the prices for hotels this year range from about $80 to $120...

If you make your reservation with a credit card, you don't have to pay until you actually check-in (or check-out, whichever it is) from the hotel in May.

Not true. Just hold it with your card. If you can't make it down, chances are you'll know well enough in advance to cancel without incurring any sort of fees.

Yeah, last year you could cancel them up to a couple weeks before the con itself with no fees.  There is a shut-off date where you either can't cancel or they charge you for it, but it's not until the very last minute.
