Quote from: "Zorya"...but as long as people sign some sort of "No Rape" waiver...
Wait a second. You mean I didn't sign one of those when I was born?

I'll be very busy for the next few days, then

On Monday night at 10pm, about ten of us were huddled together around a box in the Hilton lobby reading the program guides and crying. They were easily the best program guides Fanime has ever had. It would've been almost better if the program guides just didn't show up at all because it was painful that they were so close yet so far...

Really, if you haven't checked out the digital copy on fanime.com, please do. You'll be impressed.

Staff & Volunteers / I wanted to thank the staff
May 29, 2007, 12:17:47 AM
Oh yeah. Many staff don't post, but almost everyone important runs through these boards occasionally, especially right after con.

Hi everybody,

You might notice a little poll box in the lower right side of http://www.fanime.com/. This is a new idea that the staff is trying out.

What we hope to do is gather opinions on a handful of targeted questions from the most important people of the convention - the attendees. It will help us focus our efforts and give you guys what you want.

Head on over to the front page and vote! We'll be adding more polls as the con approaches, so check often.

PS: If you find any bugs or have any suggestions for the polls, feel free to drop me an email at [email protected].

Nope. Issues with privacy and all that mumbo jumbo...

If you want to make sure you're registered, log into your account and take a look!

I'm banning every single person in this thread for even implying that I'm on a power trip

The basic difference is that volunteers are people who sign up during con while staff are people who have been working for us before and after con.

Quote from: "DarkDrai"How much does each do?
In the past, the requirement for both has been to perform around 24 hours of duty during the four days of the con. The vast majority of staff work way more than that, and a good number of people are working every waking hour (and often get called when they're asleep). Plus, staff work countless hours between each year.

Quote from: "DarkDrai"What do they each do?
Most volunteers do grunt work like manning doors to check for IDs, moving stuff around, or running stuff across the con floor. Staff do everything - planning the budget, negotiating the contracts, deciding on what anime to play, etc etc etc.

Quote from: "DarkDrai"What perks (or rewards) do they each get?
Staff get a free badge and a discounted hotel room. Vols get their badge fee refunded at the end of the con.

Quote from: "DarkDrai"What responsibilities does each have?
Staff generally have far more responsibilities than vols, but the extent of that depends on the position.

Quote from: "DarkDrai"What must one do to become (and maintain status of) a volunteer/staff? (As in meetings, etc.)
To be on staff, you need to come to at least one meeting and sign up with a department. After that, you need to be in constant contact with your department head and you need to do the responsibilities assigned to you. That generally means you need to attend a fair number of meetings, though exceptions can be made if you physically cannot but you're responsible otherwise.

To be a vol, you need to go to the vol room during con and sign up.

And he's permanently banned.

Please continue normal discussion :)

CrackPr0n has received a warning for his actions in this thread.

It seems unfair to everyone else for me to lock this thread due to one person, so I'll leave it open. Everyone, please try to keep your posts professional and flame-free.

Quote from: "MPLe"Just a friendly reminder...

"God of Fanime" and "King of Fanime" are two titles (among many) that are currently taken. Thank you, have a nice day. =)
Thanks for defending my titles, buddy. You will be promptly rewarded.

Hotel and Facilities / Did you reserve your room yet?
December 19, 2006, 09:43:22 AM
Quote from: "BunofGovt"The only possible downside is that we'll be at the other end of the convention from the video programming rooms so I'll have to walk further.  Or else just stay in the video rooms all.  night.  long.

The video programming is still on the Marriott side, but we're going to have some of our biggest events on the Hilton side of the con this year. We're using the Hilton-side rooms a LOT more.

Uh-oh... I've said too much already

Quote from: "Moonblossom"The text is white, on a navy background, for me. I think it's quite easy to read.

The only orange I see is some of the links, and they're a medium burnt sort of orange that looks good on the navy.
okay it must be me then.

I did a PrintScreen and uploaded the pic onto my website:

here's what I see

LOL I can't belive this, I'm the only one with this problem....I guess that makes me "unique".
You know, I had the same problem... but when I went back to the page to show Tony, it turned magically white. I'd suggest hitting shift+refresh to get rid of any old cached info or something.

Also... we'll probably put in the milliseconds and seconds once we get closer to con ;)

I think Tony has done enough natural flowing for now. Saturday morning is when you'll get to see the new site!

Ideas and Suggestions / {mid:night}, lo:lita; suggestions
December 01, 2006, 10:38:40 AM
Sorry, one of our requirements is that the band needs at least four punctuations in their name before we consider them.

;'.?. were so great last year.

Actually, turnout wasn't so great this year, so we're moving to the little alley behind the SJCC next year. We're hoping it'll solve all the "expensive food" complaints because there'll be plenty of free food around, compliments of the San Jose Garbage Collection Services.

Ideas and Suggestions / Con Reporting..
June 17, 2006, 04:01:32 PM
...Reporting? What do you mean? You'll have to be more specific.
