FanimeCon gets special convention pricing, so don't bother calling the hotels directly yet. Usually, the hotels have large blocks of rooms already reserved for the convention that will be provisioned through the website and company that specifically handles FanimeCon hotels. That would explain the lack of rooms. Also, if you call them, they will quote you their default rate, which is usually very high.

For the future, you should just wait for FanimeCon to announce official rooms if you want to reserve. In the past, it's run between $80 and $120 per night, depending on the hotel and occupancy, but again that is in the past and may not be correct for the future.

Also, PLEASE don't over occupy rooms. It can really piss of the hotel, get you into serious trouble (possibly get thrown out) and gives FanimeCon a bad name.

Man, I keep hoping for a review to include either Cthulhu for President or the Hentai Music Videos :|

I've done pre-reg at the Con for every FanimeCon since 2003, but this year was the first I skipped it. The lines were just too long and I'd rather spend my last day doing something fun than waiting hours in line to pre-reg. My limit is about 30 minutes. Granted, I'll probably pre-reg once it is online, but I don't see much reason anymore to pre-reg at the Con anymore.

As silly as it sounds, I used to do it because the earlier you pre-registered, the lower your badge number would be. My all time lowest number one year was 27. About 2 years ago though, they changed the numbering scheme and I ended up in the higher numbers. I know it is silly, but I used to get up early just for that low number.

I'll still keep my last pre-reg slip in my wallet though, just as I have for the last 8 years. It is a bit of a tradition for me, and my wallet doesn't quite feel right if I don't have a FanimeCon pre-reg tag in it.

A few days ago, an idea came into my head.

A lot of company websites have a location where you can post your resume and the company will compare it to opening that they have and see if there is a match.

Has FanimeCon ever considered something similar? Not a resume exactly, but some kind of setup where people who are interested in joining staff can post skills and interests that they have? The forums are a bit too much a of a public place, so something more private might be better.

Doing something like this shortly after the 2011 con might be a good idea for getting more staff for next year since people are still thinking about FanimeCon.

I took great exception to the Narwals video saying they could prevent Cthulhu from eating you. Utter nonsense.

That aside, your panel was amusing. My main suggestion is that you trim any external media (videos from youtube, etc) that you're going to show, so we don't have to sit through all of it. That'll allow you to get through more memes in your time period.

As for the two hour slot, I strongly urge you to carefully consider that idea. The problem with two hours is that it can end up dragging on and stops being entertaining. That doesn't mean it cannot be done, but it'll take a lot more effort.

I apologize for the Late Night Samurai Classics, since no one seemed interested in them.

I must now commit seppuku.

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest chance and 10 being absolutely certain, I would say...

I find your lack of Cthulhu for President disturbing...

To spell his name correctly is to him know. To know chtulhu is to go insane.(or something)

No, to misspell Cthulhu's name is to anger Cthulhu. Really has an issue with spelling for some reason.

As a constituent of cthulu, I am really looking forward to this.

You'd look forward to it more if you could spell it correctly.

Hello this is my second year going and I was kind of a "loner" last year.  None of my friends are really interested in anime, so I'm secretly an anime nerd lol.  So it would be nice to make new friends and I'm really shy, so you'd have to come up and talk to me first.

Come to Cthulhu for President, WHERE THE WINNERS ARE

Keep those questions coming!

Except for you Arkham. You can stay away.

If you donate with the Stanford Blood Center they will send you a card in the mail with your ID number and blood type.

Dude... they play in San Francisco nearly every year. GO TO ONE OF THEIR CONCERTS.

I do.

AND YET, I CRAVE MORE

Okay then, I'll amend my previous offer for a Cthulhu for President button. One will be provided if you have the colorful bandage they put over the draw site.

Unfortunately, we're not giving away stickers. We've had issues in the past with stickers that we've handed out appearing all over the place. This makes Team San Jose mad and they (much to their dismay) have to charge us to have their staff move them.

Originally, I wanted to do something really cool and put a FanimeCon spin to it, but A) plans came too late and B) I need to find something cool enough to where people wouldn't feel forced to donate just for that cool item/prize.

If the turnout is great this year, we will definitely be bringing it back next year and working to put a spin on it. ;) If you have any ideas, e-mail me.

Is Stanford going to give away their normal "I gave blood" stickers?

THE PILLOWS, DAMNIT.

You should choose a specific event to meet up at after it is done (such as... the Cthulhu for President Panel).

You can also meet some really fun people at the Hentai nights, but be warned there are a lot of creepers.

I can't donate at Fanime because I already donated to the Stanford Blood Center at the beginning of May, but I encourage everyone to donate if you can!

Here are some pointers:
Drink lots of water before and after donation
Eat a balanced meal before you donate, preferably something rich in Iron
Don't skip or miss any meals after donating
Immediately report any dizziness or lightheadedness after donating
Enjoy the cookies and take it easy for 24 hours after donating

You can get more information on eligibility for donating here:
http://bloodcenter.stanford.edu/donate/EligibilityMedHisDeferral.html

Please please please donate if you can. The SBC folks are a good bunch of people and if you're a little scared they'll get you through it. Most of the pain comes from the initial test they run from a prick into a finger, not from the actual donation.

Your blood WILL save lives. You'll get a cool sticker and colored arm band, and if you come and find me while wearing a sticker or armband I'll give you a Cthulhu for President button.

DO IT
