Panels and Workshops / Re: Omori/Sato Guest Panels
June 09, 2013, 03:43:24 PM
Out of curiosity, did anyone catch any of these panels? Sato's panel on How Anime is Made was especially informative since she talked about things you don't really get to hear about and I believe it was the first time a panel on the topic was held at FanimeCon. The room was packed and I think some people were unfortunately denied entry (fire codes) since whenever someone left I saw someone else come in.

Do you guys prefer theme/moderated panels with a Q&A at the end, or straight Q&As? Usually we just have Q&As but this time we changed it up slightly so I'm hoping to get some feedback on the format. Thanks!

So when do we get the Fanime 2014 guests suggestion thread?
You can start one if you'd like. ^_~

But the mandatory staff meetings to be on staff is basically the dealbreaker for me as someone who doesn't live in San Jose and doesn't have a car.

Don't let that keep you from staffing! While there are some meetings that are mandatory, if you live very far away I believe you can be exempt from them.

Did that Durarara message actually contain a shoutout to Fanime or San Jose? Because I didn't hear Fanime OR San Jose in it.
No, that was added in and was not actually said in Japanese.

This is a longshot, but is that "Drop" AMV from before the concert available anywhere?

I think it's included on the DRRROOKiEZ!! CD.

A note to sellers with a lot of stuff... Beware of shoplifters.

We'd all like to think that people who attend conventions are nice and have proper manners, but unfortunately there are some that don't. I've had stuff taken from my space when I wasn't looking before. Make sure to have all your merch displayed in front of you as much as you can, and stay aware of your surroundings so people don't pull a fast one on you while you're either in the middle of a transaction or are looking away.

Will be on a plane to the U.S. at night one week from today. :D

So what events are you guys most hyped up for/excited about? I think this year's MusicFest is going to be pretty awesome, and I'm looking forward to the panels with Omori and Sato as they worked on my favorite series, Natsume Yuujinchou.

Panels and Workshops / Omori/Sato Guest Panels
May 15, 2013, 11:16:31 PM
Hi everyone. The schedule for guest panels is mostly up. Swing by the panels for Takahiro Omori and Yumi Sato if you get the chance!

Omori Q&A - Friday @ 6PM (Panels 2)
Omori panel - Sunday @ 2PM (Panels 1)
Sato panel - Sunday @ 1PM (Panels 1)
Omori/Sato panel - Saturday @ 2PM (Panels 2)

The panel descriptions can be found here: http://www.fanime.com/events-and-exhibits/panels/panel-listing/category/?category=GOH

Aside from Omori's Q&A, the rest of the panels will be moderated theme panels so if you have questions you want to ask the director, your best chance of having them answered would be during Friday's Q&A.

Please drop by! :D

If you don't bring any food with you to the con, there is a Safeway near SJSU at the Paseo de San Antonio light rail station. It's just a short walk from the convention center.

I agree with not surviving the con on ramen. It might be the "otaku" way of doing things but it certainly is not the most healthy.

Panels schedule is available here: http://www.fanime.com/events-and-exhibits/panels/panel-listing
I notice that not all the guest panels are up (ROOKiEZ isn't listed yet), but it's a start if you're looking to attend any panels.

MusicFest will be Saturday night, as has already been announced on the official sites for 7!! and ROOKiEZ.

No hype will be given till the schedule is out.
Panel times are up, including most guest panels: http://www.fanime.com/events-and-exhibits/panels/panel-listing

And um, you do realize that comments like these aren't going to make the schedules come out any faster, right? ^^; I'm sure the staff is doing their best.

We're excited too!

It wasn't necessarily on purpose that we got guests related to Durarara!!, but it kinda worked out that way this year with Omori, Sato, Darrel, and now ROOKiEZ. ^^; Hope you guys enjoy the concert and don't forget to come to the different panels too! ;D

4) I never bring water because they have water fountains around the convention center. One less thing to carry around. I would highly suggest a backpack so you can put all the things you buy in there so you don't have to carry them around also.

Regardless of what others may say, I would always bring around at least one bottle of water. It is important to keep yourself hydrated during the con and you can't assume that the water stations will always have water. (If everyone depends on them, well...)

Welcome! Glad you'll be making FanimeCon your first convention and I hope you have a great time. ^^

There have been a lot more young folks attending lately but there's still a very good-sized older crowd so you'll fit right in. :)

(There are always some HP cosplayers so feel free to pack that along.)

I think I might have everyone beat. I'm flying in from Japan, so about 5500 miles. =P
I'm from San Jose though and my house is just a mile or so away from the Great Mall. Will be spending time with the fam after the con.

Reminds me of that one year I went to AX (the only time I ever went) and I saw a figure I had really wanted with like a $40 price tag but I could see underneath it that it previously had a $20 tag. >__>;; Yeah....

If you're going to be haggling, please don't low-ball the seller. If you want to ask them to shave off a couple bucks or so on a $20 item then that's fine but if you're going to offer them half of their asking price then yeah, you'll find yourself quickly ignored.

Friday is the first day of the con and it's not incredibly active since some people are still working that day. If you don't plan on going the full four days, I would recommend a weekend badge so you can enjoy both Saturday and Sunday when most of the events are. If you can only go one day then it may be better to get either Saturday or Sunday instead of Friday. If the schedule is put up before the con begins, you can check it out and decide which day has the most events you'd like to see.

I believe we already have a manga library??
