Looking for Roommates!!!!

Hello possible roommates and new friends, my legal name is Tiffany Foster and its nice to meet you. My preferred name is Clyde
and I am a 26 year old non-binary. My mate is Reed, he is a trans male and the other friend Kalila is female. Me and Reed,
are long time cosplayers from Arizona. We are pretty chill and fun to be around, but we can be a bit shy and introverted at first.
We don't drink, smoke, party, or do drugs. However, Reed does vape without the nicotine for medical reasons but he will not be vaping in the room out of respect and fire hazards. Me, Reed, and Kalila are traveling from Arizona to attend Fanime. This is Reed and Kalila's first Fanime. We are looking for two more roommates to share the hotel room with us.

Hotel, dates, and pricing:
Fairfield Inn and Suites.
Check in on Thursday, 05/25
Check out on Tuesday, 05/30
Price for 5: 148
Price for 4: 172
These spots are bed spots, not floor spots.
Looking for roommates that know each other or are comfortable sharing a bed spot.
I will taking the money for the room though paypal, would need the money by May 13. Exceptions can be made if needed.
Shuttle is the only way to and from the con.
If there is enough key cards you will receive one.
We bring food to be shared with all in the room. We are also having a cosplay pizza party on Sunday, paid by us.
We are renting a car so we can pick you up at the airport if needed.
I am also on the waitlist for three hotels near the convention center, if we get one of those hotels I'll contact you
with new info and prices.

Only adults over 21, no minors.
We prefer females in the room but can make an exception with certain rules.
There will be no drinking, partying, doing drugs, or bringing any strangers to the room.
Do not touch anyones stuff without permission of owner or move any of their stuff.
Do not touch any cosplay, wigs, or cosplay props that may be out, hanging up in the closet or dressers.
Keep your area clean, clean up any messes you make both in the room and in the bathroom, keep all your belongings in your area.
Keep noises to dull roar. When returning to room late be respectful of sleeping roommates.
Be respectful to all roommates.
All three in the room will be cosplaying friday through monday. Because of this we will be up early due to complicated cosplays.

I will be doing Rurouni Kenshin and Yuyuhakusho, and I have a friend who might do Shenmue or something else old school. I'd like to join!

Outstanding.  As I posted in your Rurouni Kenshin gathering thread you're well within our pre-2001 gathering charter of sorts.  Same with Shenmue, 1999 in Japan and 2000 abroad.

I'm super looking foreard to this gathering! I'm cosplaying Ichigo one of my favorite Magical girls from Tokyo Mew Mew. I don't know if she qualifies as "Old School" (2000) but it'll always be the nostalgic first anime I got into. 2 more months everyone

Yup, Tokyo Mew Mew is just within the gathering's pre-2001 limit (with the manga beginning in late 2000) so you are more than welcome!

Still haven't locked down my personal cosplay plans for Fanime but they're better coming together.  Of course my biggest goal for FanimeCon 2017 is not to have the allergy attack from hell knock me out the Wednesday night before con.  Seriously... on the third to last stitch of a small cosplay alteration on that Wednesday night I felt my throat get a little scratchy - and that was it.  I was fine during the gathering but blew my energy out after that.  Spent Saturday sitting around and standing in autograph lines - then went home.  Went home at like 1pm on Sunday after the Sailor Moon gathering but came back that evening to poke around the halls.  With the exception of Friday, it frankly sucked because I was so out of it. haha

Does anyone have a big wireless speaker?  I wanted to play some music for the gathering, including the ending dance for kyuragner.  Let me know so that I can at least get this done.

Hi all! Last year I took a gander around the fanime convention area to see what construction and such might inhibit usual activities. Luckily, much construction in that area has been completed or hasn't started yet. However again the grassy areas in the park are currently fenced off to be reseeded from the Super Bowl event. Last year the fences were removed in time for fanime, and hopefully should also be removed in time this year. Though I thought I would let people know just in case!

As far as construction, the building next to the fairmont is now finished. The closest construction project is only currently a proposal for new apartments to be built where Park Hall is currently. Thus because of this, possibly, the Black and White Ball has been moved to the Marriott Ballroom. I know this has been mentioned on other threads, but I thought I would post here as well just to be sure everyone knows! I'm not sure if the construction is the reason for this change if it hasn't started yet, but it seems likely. I'll keep checking the area for construction updates though it seems all proposals and current projects are out of the way of cosplay gathering areas and routes to the convention center from hotels.

If you're curious about current construction projects in the area, here's a handy map provided by the city that is current as of one week of me posting this: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1SF6B7WJFutm2YlItoXwCe-CAu5E&hl=en_US&ll=37.33131087974283%2C-121.88834308462526&z=17

There is currently some construction on apartment buildings next to South Hall, though this shouldn't pose much of an issue. If anything else comes up that might pose an issue, I'll update this thread! Hope this offers some useful information for some non-locals~

Well a big part of Fanime Tournaments and the Gaming room in general is the spectacle for the attendees to watch, no? Moving the PCs to a smaller room would mean less people can be in the room at one time, and of course the room is going to be a oven. I mean they could project the match someone to the main room I guess, but that is some unneeded complication.
Also last I checked they did not use dedicated PCs for the tournament, they were also used for general PC Gaming as well. They all need to be in the gaming hall.

As for splitting random teams and premade teams, at what point does one face the other, and at that point, besides the random team maybe having a chance to play more then one round or two, does the end result change?
The only way I can see it being fair to split those teams is to do a total split into two separate tournaments, that way one never faces the other and everything can be 'fair'. I dont think that is viable for fanime though, given they have a schedule where they need to run other tournaments. They could run where the randoms are in one bracket and the premades in the other I suppose, with the end result undoubtedly going to the premade side. In that case they could cut off the top final match and make 2 tournaments.
Still any of those kind of defeat the purpose of a tournament in my opinion, putting forth something akin to a handicap in some cases.

Of course I dont work in Gaming Staff and have no idea what there total resources and end goals for tournaments are, but this is my educated guess based on what I have seen at Gaming Hall over the years.

I would think this would be something completely unofficial, because technically day zero doesn't exist.

That being said, I'd love to write something up if I could get a general listing of things taking place. I know there will be early badge pickup along with swap meet, but I don't know about anything else.
