This is one of those annual threads for people to post their ideal guests. You can post "dream guests," but just keep in mind that we won't be getting anything too crazy ("I want Koda Kumi, Ayumi Hamasaki, and Utada Hikaru for Musicfest, and then I want...").
My vote is still for Amano Tsukiko. I stand by my position that she is perfect for this convention, and I am sure that even if people hadn't heard her music before the con, they would end up loving her by the end.
...JiLL-Decoy association or Paris Match wouldn't be too bad, either... We could always use more jazz at Musicfest.
I also wouldn't be too sad if some lolita designers were brought out, but I don't know of any names or how realisitic that is.
I'm hoping for the Gainax/Gurren Lagann guests who couldn't come this year because they were working on the movie.

Industry wise, I would like to see people from studio Shaft. Despite what anyone thinks of quality wise, direction wise they do things that most studios would never have the balls to do. And you know everyone at SHAFT is a total nerd.
VA wise, I always list the same set of people so I won't bother with that.
And... this one would be interesting but unlikely. Jun Tsukasa. Most people know who Range Murata is. Jun Tsukasa is sort of... a shadow of Murata. They have extremely similar art styles(and always have) but two very different ranges in subject and thought matter. I love Tsukasa Bullet. Tsukasa gets virtually no recognition in the US, and when people do have Tsukasa merchandise, it USUALLY gets confused for Murata Range stuff (I personally heard it twice this year at Fanime). They're actually friends and they've worked on doujinshi together, but they're very competitive with each other. I actually called Range Murata, Jun Tsukasa, and asked him to sign one of Tsukasa's doujinshi. It pissed him off a lot, and I apologized for it. He did say something afterwards though "Now I know how he feels".
I honestly like Tsukasa's work better than Murata's as Tsukasa is more versatile with his character types and poses. I think he'd be a great guest though... if he's not too shy about it all.

I agree with diversity in the musical guests. We need some jazz out here, first of all, such as in the form of JiLL-Decoy association or Paris Match. Not a super popular genre, but since they tend towards fusion styles, the music is very accessible to most people, even if they dislike jazz.
We also cannot forget that JDA did the opening theme for Red Garden (Jolly Jolly... that song actually got me into the anime...) and the opening and ending themes for the newest season of Blue Dragon (though those two are less representative of their style).
I would also like to mention (possibly again) now that we are on the subject of what certain musical artists did for what, that Amano Tsukiko is doing the themesong for Fatal Frame IV, and that the game is trying to appeal to a wider audience outside of Japan, from the little information that I know (have been avoiding spoilers like the plauge). So she has yet another reason to come and be an awesome musical guest. I mean, if we are going to have j-rock yet again, we might as well have something other than just VK, right?

Because Koyasu doesn't even do public appearances in Japan. He's like Masamune Shirou. He doesn't like public appearances, or more specifically, he doesn't like people. Friends of mine who have basically met everyone there is to meet, say it's extremely hard to set up anything with him. JP companies and magazines have been trying to get interviews with him for a long time, and for them it's near impossible, let alone an American convention.

How about NEWS or another JE (Johnny's Entertainment) group? Jpop is a big part of Japanese culture in my opinion. I think it should be represented! (NEWS is preferable...)

This is quite impossible, as Johnny's never leave SE Asia. Taiwan/HK/China is the furthest they go from Japan, and that is ONLY because they have a huge huge huge huge huge huge huge established fan base there. There isn't a chance in hell that fanime could afford it, and even if they could, they still would get a no.

And with incidents like Yamapi getting nearly beaten up by his fans at the airport in Seoul (all this WITH security surrounding him), I'm not sure we'd have enough man-power to protect HIM, let alone the rest of the NEWS members properly, lol.
Issues like that, along with the things that they would need for their highly elaborate shows...it'd be very difficult. (^^; )
But JPop acts are being looked into :)

This is only half true. The trip wasn't for an appearance. A certain Johnny's member was going to school in LA. Short of it, people found out things they shouldn't and that's what happened.

I totally second bringing loli brands out here! It actually is getting a lot more common at cons to bring out loli brands, and I noticed that last con, there were a lot of really good lolis, instead of the usual crop of cheap lace and shiny satin.
I'm also going to repeat: we need some jazz. JiLL-Decoy association, plz. I'd e happy with paris match. Or even orange pekoe, but they are less desireable. JDA would be pure win, though, esepcially since I'm hoping for something other than just pop and visual kei. If you must have rock, Amano Tsukiko is still perfect, but I'm really hoping to see some jazz. D: Unlikely to get any of these artists, since I suggest them all the time, but it would be amazing~
For music I'd love to see Acid Black Cherry and maybe even the bands of all the support members. Breakerz would probably bring a good amount of people, so I'm sure the two of them together would probably bring an even bigger crowd.
But I'd only want that if fans would get at least two months notice since I have friends on the east cost who would want to come for ABC. And giving anyone only one months notice just isn't satisfactory. For any band.

We do what we can. It's hard to get contracts from Japan translated, signed by the right people, sent back to Japan, translated again, signed on their end, sent back to us. Then arranging hotel rooms, plane tickets that coincide with everyone's schedule, then hashing out the actual schedule for con. It's pretty crazy.
I know that it seems like we have a full year, but that is just not the case. Research, contacting the bands and negotiations take time.
If you would like to improve this situation, you are more than welcome to join staff and help us make this happen. Saying that we should announce our guests within a certain timeframe is easy. Making it actually happen is the hard part!

There's always a way, it's up to the person to act upon it. I don't get why this person would be complaining? At least, I commute for Fanime and I don't even live close by because I enjoyed going to Fanime every year, no matter what guests they bring. Thank you, Fanime Staffs for being awesome guests every year!
Back on topic, I love to see Miyano Mamoru coming over since he's well-verse in both being a seiyuu and singer. He also does stage play too. For music guests, seeing both Nami Tamaki and TM Revolution performing would be awesome. =)
Camino. Hands down, if there's one group I think that should come back, it's Camino.
What with their recent openings of Koutetsu Sangokushi and Tomika Hero Rescue Force, I know a lot of American fans are sorely missing them. Not to mention that since their last American appearance (that I can find - someone correct me if I'm wrong) is in 2006. Since then, they've released 6 (and presumably going on 7/8, since Story hasn't had a Maxi Single or an OST or anything released yet) cds that their American fans haven't been able to get our hands on.
Every time I've seen them at a con, they've been exceptionally nice to fans, which is a real plus for guests (no matter how popular you are, if you're a jerk, you're a jerk. They aren't).

I completely agree with Johnny Young Bosch and the cast of Rock Musical Bleach (even if it is completely unlikely... I can still dream though) I'm a huge fan of Johnny Young Bosch, he's such a good voice actor!!!!

Here are some thought since the Lolita fashion is hitting america like hotcakes and with Baby The stars shine bright, Black Peace now along with other brands that are sold through MaruiOne are going to be in SF due to the VIZ Jpopcenter in Japantown
I suggest we bring baby the stars shine bright, Black Peace now and Angelic Pretty
They have made countless appearances (though BPN under MaruiOne for dealers room) And I say its time we bring them along.

Some video game company representatives. Atlus, in particular, with their work on Disgaea and the appeal to the Japanese SRPG niche, would fit in very nicely.
I understand that Fanime is primarily about Anime and to a lesser extent live action movies from Japan, but hearing from Atlus would be a great addition as well.

I had a game industry panel 3 years ago, 3 people attended. It was kinda funny. Had people from Atlus, Konami, EA, and some others there.

I doubt Aya Hirano would be able to come this year she came to AX in like 06 or 07 and shes been busy :U shes a college student still if I remember and plus I think it would take alot of coaxing to come back to the US after the whole AX fiasco.

I think it'd be lovely to have Baby The Stars Shine Bright come (or if Novala Takemoto came as well). Considering Viz's connection to them as well as the fact that they're based in San Francisco, it'd be good promotion^_~
As for mangaka, I'd really like to meet Kazuya Minekura. I know she's busy with Wild Adapter again, but it doesn't hurt to ask, right? haha.
For an anime related guest, I'm requesting Michael Arias (Tekkon Kinkreet film adaptation).
For music, Capsule would be awesome, but I suppose they're a "dream list" request...I also think Se7en would be good (yes, I know he's Korean). Even though he's working on his US debut, it doesn't look like his management has been promoting him much, so I think it'd be a good idea to have him at Fanime. It'd also be nice if Karma Shenjing could come back. The last time I saw them was at JrockCon, as I was somehow uninformed about the concert last year T___T

ehh I wouldnt say novala Takemoto (or should I say TOKEmoto) will be doing a US debut again sometime soon after his release from prison for having/using marijuana, since then Baby has pulled every collab they did with him saying "we had nothing to do with this lol" so hes trying to rebuild his reputation again.
I would love for baby to come to Fanimecon since they are opening either this winter or spring in SF where that super awesome Jpop center depending if they get a full staff and that store manager ready. They along Angelic Pretty's Maki and Asuka have been very welcomed to the US and in the So-cal Part of the reason we should totaly have them up in Norcal as well. MaruiOne would be amazing even if they were just a dealer they have been a good dealer to j-fashions
as for Se7en his debut has been pretty small, my friend met him last year at a verizon event in the bay area like some asian artist there isnt alot of big promo/hype so its basically you have to look at the offical website

I don't remember whether or not it was an English or Japanese version, but I'm pretty sure it was recent, so it got my hopes up, hehe. If it was recent like I thought it was, then it was probably just a reprint in an English version from one of the original/older bibles. I guess there's always waiting until after he's served his prison sentence, haha.

Actually alot of the english version of the lolita bibles have some of the older stuff in it. So yeah Novala is out of jail but he is still writing and such for the lolita bibles in japan its just not so huge like it used to be, I still love how he wrote shimotsuma story and I hope he gets more of his books translated sometime soon.
Haha Se7en shot a video with lil' Kim? I have to see that but it would be nice to see Rain here since he did a few lives here in the US and did a colab with Omarion I think *O* especially being an inspiration the guy has a protoge in the works. He has been in movies like Speed Racer, You got served and Im a cyborg but thats okay. He has done bomb ass collabs with Diddy and Jojo as well. Hes rising to fame in the US and I probally would die seeing him live x) hes like my top favorite Korean Artist
BoA is a bit of a common name to anime fans because her song every heart was on Inuyasha, I like how shes tri lingual so having her would be a fun time though Im guessing lines and such will be like AN Cafe's =3=

I wouldn't want BoA out. She's too big. Fanimecon last year seemed more like AnCafecon. The mass amounts of fangirls and the huge crowds and lines and the obession over them all weekend was just too much. I'm glad that Fanime can get someone like that out, but I really don't like it. I prefer smaller guests.
That said, I still wouldn't mind JiLL-Decoy association or paris match as a musical guest. ;P Guitar Vader (and hopefuly they can actually come to the con this time!) would also be good.

To be honest I would actually like to see actual japanese brand representatives such as Baby the stars shine bright, Angelic Pretty and Metamorphose temps de fille for the lolita styles and H.Naoto, Black Peace Now and Sex Pot revenge for punk styles these are just suggestions since they have all peaked interests into the US market, with Baby opening their store in SF in either spring or summer, Angelic Pretty's Yumemiru musical paradise event that had a huge success and Maki and Asuka themselves said they would love to come back and have a dream of starting a US store here. H.Naoto has an english site and have been known to do collabs with Amy lee since she did wear some of their clothes before. BPN is just amazing for a gothic brand and Sex Pot revenge have had a mass popularty in punk clothing besides others like Putumayo and others which i cannot remember. Metamorphose has had a decent us market since they had their own english site prior to baby or AP.
haha or just get maruiOne to come and talk about how they are gonna open at the jpop center along with baby :U
I would love for Meta to come out here. The other brands would be great (I want more than overpriced iffy offbrand, and waaaay overpriced decent-looking offbrand, oh yeah, and throw in a couple of brand J-punk items at some J-rock booth), as well, and Baby would certainly be a good choice since they are opening that store in SF.
I think I'm biased, though. I <3 retrololi. :D
Lolita Kisama isn't really the best clothing out there, but I do buy black nail polish from them every year (since my old bottle always seems to clump up and dry out around Fanime time...). I would be sad without my yearly polish. ;P I'm with Kazi on bringing out actual loli brands, though. That would be a huge boost to Fanime.

Puttining another vote for Camino. They've just recently released their new CD, The Life, which from what I've managed to hear (and see in the PV) it's AMAZING. That's their 6th album since they last attended Fanime (not including albums they were featured on, but weren't there's.)
With now three openings for series (two for the same show, one for Koutetsu Sangokushi), I think it's about time they came back =3
Also, Run Sasaki would be a fun guest. She actually lives here in the US now, in Washington (right near Seattle) and teaches voice acting to aspiring american VAs (such as myself). She's crazy nice and crazy fun, and I'm sure would love to come down and spread the Japanese Seiyuu way.
Since this is a general request thread, I'm naming most of the seiyuu that come to mind, except for the two below.

I'd definitely like to see more JP seiyuu (in part because this most recent year I've gotten significantly better at recognizing them). I'm not sure how difficult it is to get big-name seiyuu, but there should be a lot of middle-crowd ones to choose from...
Actually, I think that a good thing to jump on this year would be Macross Frontier. There are plenty of good names of varying amounts of fame there, and the series is one of the best things in recent memory that has broad appeal. Boy would I love to see Megumi Nakajima perform (though I kinda doubt we have the facilities).

Howdy new to the forums. I think It would be great with the new release of the Vampire Hunter D Manga to have some one from the D aspect come. I am a big wisher but Maybe Hideyuki Kikuchi , Yoshitaka Amano, or Saiko Takaki. I think Saiko even comes to LA once in a while. I will sign a petition of fans if needed to bring them. I will also be showing up as D so keep an eye out for me. Laters.

Another humble suggestion is to also invite Crispin Freeman to do his mythological panel, which has been a big hit in every convention.
I think the normal protocol is to let the voice actors' respective agents know. Crispin's website has instructions (including his agent's information) in making arrangements for his appearance.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping that either this year or in the near future we get to see these stars.

Steve Conte and/or Scott Matthews. Both did songs for Cowboy Bebop. Scott did some more for GITS and Steve did some for Wolfs Rain. Not sure if either of them have done any other anime soundtracks since then though. Great voices and music. I was compelled to purchase their CDs.

to have as a MC for Masquerade or even the Grand Marshall for FanimeCon 2010. It would switch it up a bit for the con, especially his involvement with the Japanese community in SoCal and his experiences throughout his life.
