So I was working on the Program Guide for ASAHiCon (<obligatorymarketing>It's next Saturday!</obligatorymarketing>), and I was studying program guides from other cons to make sure I had included all the content I needed to, and I noticed that in the staff list in the very back of last year's program guide for Fanime, there was a department named "Awesome."

I shall now spend the rest of the day speculating what that department actually does. :3

Let me start by saying that out of all of the staff at FanimeCon, only a handful actually knows what the Awesome department entails.

I will list the obvious things here.
* It is in Marketing, but it can really go anywhere.
* The best part about Awesome is that no one knows what it does, but non-staffers ask "What is this Awesome department?" and staffers generally ask "Can I be apart of Awesome?" (answer is 'no').

What I'm saying is that no one knows what Awesome does, but speculation is between "nothing" and "everything".

It is clearly a Department where all the annoying Weeaboos and other Undesirables are transferred to so the rest of the staff does not have to deal with them.
They disguise it as the "Awesome Department" and make it look all mysterious and exclusive to attract said people easily, whom think they just entered the cool kids club.

My theories:
- It's a very old inside joke that doesn't even make sense out of context.
- The people in the "Awesome" department are the real convention chairs, and the public convention chairs are just there to look pretty.
- It's Fanime's secret Zombie defense team.
