Ok, so, is there a preferrence to which hotel everyone stays at? I just crashed at my cousin's place this year cos attending Fanime kinda happened all at the last minute, but I'm... well.. a bunch of us are interested in attending next year and would love to stay at a hotel near Fanime, you know, since it's like a 24 hour convention, (CRAZINESS!!!)! So yeah... any suggestions?

I have stayed at the Hilton, the hotel right across the street from the hilton, and the Sainte Claire. All of them were pretty nice and the rooms aren't too bad as long as your reserve it via the fanimcon website when they post it. My room at the sainte claire this year was only $99 a night, which is pretty good and not that bad if you have someone to split the cost with. The hilton is nice because it is attached to the convention center itself, but none of the hotels are ever too far away from Fanimecon. So just go with what you can afford.

I'm digging the Marriott

i stayed at the marriott... you just have to deal with the elevator cause a lot of stuff happens around the marriott. its nice and the service was good.

I'm going to try the Hilton this year since for the past couple I've been in have been at the Marriott.  Elevator issues annoyed the hell out of me.

You're best bet is probably the Mariott, but of course there are some good and bad. The biggest complaint is the elevators. But I was lucky enough to end up on the 3rd floor and thus it wasnt an issue for me. I suppose it may depend on which side of the convetion you'd like the be on... but even with the Dealers room and Dance closer to the Hilton this year, it still seems that the Mariott was MUCH more busier. To each is own.

I've sayed at the Saint Clare, The Hilton, and The Marriott and I have to say they all have there ups and downs. If you actually like the crowds in the elevators at the Marriott then I be my guest. I like the Hilton except they just need to update there tv's. I had to buy an adapter to play my Wii.

They're going to be renovating all the rooms for 2009, which will include TVs with front inputs, apparently. So that issue will be resolved in time for next year's con.

If you're going up to the room often, i recommend either the Marriott or the Hilton.  Marriott is closer to the Game rooms/ panels/ karaoke rooms and the Hilton is more proximate to the Dealers Room.  If you're doing cosplay, i recommend the Marriott for 2 reasons: the fountains where most of the gatherings are held are Right Outside!  It also helps if you're doing several costume changes during the day ^_^

Just a note though, we signed up for a 2-bed room in December, but since rooms were 1st come, 1st serve, we got 1 king-size bed (fits 3 people easily).  We then got a cot in which 2 people slept in, and it ended up cheaper.  But just be aware that rooms are assigned by when you get there, not when you signed up for the rooms. which i makes sense in case people don't show up for their rooms

I stayed at the Marriott. The beds were really comfortable, service was good.
Elevators were fine for my friends and I, we stopped only every few floors which made a quick ride both up and down. However, we were always crushed into the corners, so I can't say that was too great.
Otherwise, yeah, Marriott is good.

Cool cool! Most likely, my brother will have his dog with him on the trip, which is fine, usually. I'm not too concerned about the price of the hotel, I'm more interested in the convienience and location (Usually stay at Marriott or OMNI for Comic-Con... $400 a night!!!)

One of the complaints was the elevators. What was wrong with them? Were they slow, out of order? This would be the hotel's fault and they should have addressed this issue.

Again, Thanks for the suggestions!

I've stayed @the Marriott several times, visited rooms in the Hilton & Saint Claire, and stayed @the Fairmont this year.

My verdict: Marriott > all

It all boils down to convenience.  Yes, there are crowded elevators during the con, but it's a minor inconvenience for the major convenience of having a hotel connected to the con center.  Not the biggest fan of the Hilton from what I saw.  The Saint Claire doesn't do it for me.  Admittedly, the Fairmont probably offers the nicest rooms and service.  But it's also the furthest hotel.  And, to me, that places it below the Marriott.

I stayed at the Marriot, and I just loved it. I'm definitely staying there again next year.

Seriously, free in-room internet and half-off Vallet parking seals it for me @ the Marriott. I found myself using it a lot - free in-room internet to update my blog, and Vallet parking for times when I didn't want to walk for breakfast.

That can't be right, we had to pay $15 for internet for a day and even still they allow it so you can't sign in to xbox live. How were able to get it free?

I mostly stayed at the Hilton, I like it more than the Marriot so next year I'll be at the Hilton again.

I've stayed at the Marriott twice and the Hilton three times for Fanime, and I have to say, the Hilton always wins for me.

At the Marriott I found the blankets to be scratchy, I found our room generally had a funky scent from the start, the housekeepers seemed to halfass it, and I even got trapped in a stuck elevator for about a half hour in 2005 with a bunch of guys (one of which was doing the same scavenger hunt as me, so I gave him some of my extra stuff to help him along)...

But at the Hilton the beds were sooooo comfy, every room has a fridge, I never had to wait for very long to get on an elevator, even on Monday, it was nice and clean and housekeeping always made sure our room was filled with fresh towels and empty trash cans.

Personally, I love the Mariott. The room was amazing, the staff went out of their way to help me booking said room, the elevators were fast and flawless even if they did take a long time to make it to floor 25, the room had at least a dozen electrical plugs, and the TV got good stations, so I got to watch the great movie Under Siege and then go on to see two King of the Hill episodes when I was feeling too antisocial to watch movies with other people at 2am Sunday morning. And the location was wonderful, I could have stayed indoors the whole time from Friday to Monday if I hadn't decided to hang out with the crazy people at night in the courtyard, or to buy reasonably priced food.

I've not seen the Saint Claire before, so I can't compare the Mariott to that, but it was definitely a better experience than the Hilton.

Hirotona

I thought the St. Claire was pretty awesome, expect for the fact me and my friends ended up lending room space to a few other people and it got pretty crowded since the room isn't really big enough for more then four people (or three/four people with lots of cosplay). And it's hardly that far from the con plus there's no worry about elevator wait or anything of the sort.

Still rooming at the Fairmont next year. It's not that far from the convention at all. To me having rooms that large is something I certainly desire and it's a bit closer to restraunts I like (P.F. Chang's and E@O Trading Company). I plan on having a one cosplay a day next year; there's just no need for me to have a hotel room connected right to the convention center. And plus I plan on spending a lot of time with alot of my friends back at the hotel and the Fairmont rooms can hold the most people comfortably.
