AHHHH. There are so many musicians I would love to see but I'm sure it's pretty much impossible for the ones I'm thinking of:
Miyavi, SuG, the GazettE, LM.c, Kagrra, Gackt, HYDE or An Cafe. Pretty sure An Cafe won't be back here though. Give us jrock musicians again, please !!

BoA and Utada Hikaru, too. Oh and maybe Kokusyoku Sumire. 8D Yeahh.

An Cafe will be having their American tour in April. They are playing at Slim's in San Francisco on April 14th if you are interested in going. They will also be playing in Los Angeles at the House of Blues and Avalon. :D

Ohh, yes, I know. :D I just want to see them for free again lol. *cheapskate* 8D Thanks, anyway.

Dice

(first time on fanime boards in a while, sorry if I say/do something...incorrect?)

I also support the idea of Bringing Utada Hikaru if that were ever doable. (you'd think speaking english so well she would've come here already ;A;?)
but for jpop:

Riyu Kosaka (Love Shine in DDR plus other songs)

idk where Gollbetty would fit in but they're a really good band, no idea what genre though, definitely not your average band and a good middle ground to have.

Nega would be for all the jrock fans :3 they're really good and fairly unknown, however they're in the undercode label........e_e

Well... although I'm pretty new to anime conventions, I've been a loyal fan of J-Pop music for some time; and if you're willing to consider it, I'd like to recommend a certain music group that could play at FanimeCon 2009.

They're a duo named Halcali. They're not particularly famous but have been steadily gaining notoriety in the last few years. The two are a pretty fun and spirited group, with their songs focusing on pop, hip-hop, or some combination of the two. Halcali's tracks have been featured in several animes ("Tip Taps Tip", 3rd ending theme in Eureka Seven / "Long Kiss Good Bye", 7th ending theme in Naruto Shippuden, etc) and they've been performing at various anime conventions worldwde.

You can see an example of their on-stage performance here (it's a clip from a recent concert):
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=EB5186DCE55559C3&playnext=1

Or if it's more relevant, you can see them performing at an anime expo (this one in New York) here:
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=9E77441A69110726&playnext=1

If this group interests you, please consider inviting them to the FanimeCon this year. They said in an interview (this one to be precise *link*) that they are interested in visiting other cities of the U.S., just send them an invite. And that's why I'm posting this today... in the hopes that Chicago's and New York's conventions aren't the only ones picking up Halcali, but something closer to my California home.

I do think this group is personable and fun enough to make a great stage presence at Fanime's concerts, and that their music is upbeat and unique enough to keep attendees talkin' and blogging about the experience long after the expo. Although I'm not sure how seriously you can take the word of an obviously-biased fanboy like me ;D, I do really think they'd fit in great here. Hope you consider it.  :)

haha yeah im pretty suprised that someone didnt know, it was kinda big well Daishi got arrested on meth charges and it lead to the band breaking up due to "musical differences" which people assume it was a coverup for his meth bust. But alot of the members have done solo projects Lida and Yura-Sama are in a group called DACCO and Aya and Seek are in a group together but their name escapes me. I do not know if they are still active and Im not sure what happened to Daishi since he had a solo career but it kinda just poofed.

I would love to see despairs ray again or some classics like Plastic tree or even Onmyo-za I wonder what fanime has up their sleeve this year

I second that! Baby Blue is my jam, hehe^^ I haven't been as much into their new material as I was with their older stuff, but I'd definately go and see them. They have a really fun sound, I think a lot of people would enjoy them^_~

There really were musical differences. That wasn't a lie. Not saying DAISHI's problem didn't play a role, it just wasn't the only cause of the breakup.

AYA and seek's band is called Mix Speaker's Inc and DAISHI's band is called The ROMEO. The ROMEO is actually very active. Lida also had a brief side project from DACCO with michi. of SQF called michi. with Mach LiDARZ and Yura-sama is participating in the session band BROTHER with members of DOREMIdan, ex-Shelly Trip Realize/TINC, & ex-Guy's Family.

Psycho le Cemu are also reuniting for a 3 date 10th Anniversary concert series in June featuring a new theme and new costumes and all 5 members are very happy to be doing it and very excited about it.

Mmm, I'd love to see MUCC.

They're 2nd from the top on the list of bands I want to see this year ^^
"My Dear Madame, if you could be so kind as to afford me the liberty to allow myself to emancipate my inner thoughts in a form of self expression, I would very much love to blow your head OFF"

RadioactiveKitty

see i like bands that not TOO many people knmow about. I mean, as far as i know i was one of the first people around me that knew about The GazettE and Dir En Grey... now like it seems every one knows them. before people just looked at me funny. I mean even people who DONT know Japanese are all like "OMG GAZETTE! <3" or like "OMG DIR EN GREY<3" its like -.- do you even know any of the songs "@.@ no"

I think that Alice Nine should show up before they get too big. i mean they are a good band... XP i think they should go and play at FanimeCon one year..

Kazuko

ugh...Let me roll up my sleeves for this one

First of all alot of people know about Alice 9, Im pretty sure you arent the only one going OMG CAN WE HAS ARISU NINE PLZ.

Second you sound like a snob, just because people listen to the songs and dont know any japanese doesnt mean they cant listen to them. Hell back in 02 I listened to dir en grey and I didnt know any japanese, yet there are cute things on the internet called Translations which many can read if they dont know the language. Are you really the first to know about Gazette? (I liked it when it was Just Gazette not the retardo E and the The) like where you there when they started playing their first gigs? You cant really verify that same with Dir en Grey, I mean everyone has the right to listen to whatever they want regardless of the language barrier, I dont know korean yet I still listen to Se7en and Rain that doesnt really stop me now does it?

Dir en Grey got big because they realized how big the fandom is in the west, they signed an american record deal and now tour once in a while. Once a Japanese star notices their fandom in the west, they jump on it. Because usually they have more fans than they do in Japan

we have 3 mystery guests comming to fanime, might as well wait and see what happens Plus fanime has to make a contract with the managment and some managements usually ask for x amount of money or it depends if they will be releasing an album or having a tour within fanimes time frame. Like People want An Cafe back but they are touring in the US anyway

I am sorry if I come off as harsh, I am extremly tired from doing a 12 page dissertation and semi-sick so I am a bit crabby

LastElixir

Why do Americans insist on naming the same god damn 30 bands and insist that it's "their" band? Alicenine has been relatively successful and had some good exposure (more over seas) ever since number six. These are the same people who tries to act special and say "i love shitty obscure singles like NINE HEADS RODEO SHOW! yeahh!" you are not special, get over yourself.
