I'm certainly happy. I hope to see a change.
What do others expect of Barack? Greatness or fail? I've heard alot of people feel abit iffy on his policies and stuff.

K&K4ever

I'm glad he is going to fix that stupid tax cut that Bush gave the wealthy, My family could definetly use a break.

Yeh, I tink things will be okay. Hopefully it'll be like the 90's all over again.

mDuo13

Hooray!

The hardest part is going to be these next couple months while Bush is still in office.

L3sli3_Lov3s_Chu

Yeah, and then Barack has to choose persons for his Cabinet. Thats a job in its self.

He isn't Prez yet.

Bush still has some time to screw things up (even more) for us.
and he is definatly the- "I'm taking you down with me"- type.

No sighs of relief until he is officially out of presidency.

BTW anyone heard from Cheny recently?  This bothers me.

But in all seriousness, I have mixed feelings about this election. For those that do not know I am a registered republican. I believe in free market and less government. So watching the balance of power shift to a larger government, more spending, left wing socialist ideal scares me. I see more taxes vs. corporations witch will lead to fewer jobs in the US. I see more outsourcing to foreign countries as their workers will take less pay so one again less job and less capital for the US. I see $$ wasted on alternative fuel options that have not been fully proven, will increase the cost of food (sugar and corn) or will be worse off for us in the long run.

On the other hand, part of me is overjoyed that in my lifetime I will see a black man sworn into the oval office. The election show just how far our young (compared to the rest of the world) country has come… and fast to! To any inner city or downtrodden person out there, this should show that anything and everything is possible if you work at it (wait... isn’t that a CONERTIVATE value and ideal...  :P ) anyways, here is to the next 4 years of change. Moreover, here is to the second coming of Regan… maybe it will be a black man.

Maybe it will be me…  ::)

No, seriously.

No, seriously.

You know under George W. Bush the Federal Government has expanded into affairs previously untouched, the Government is spending more, and is generally larger than it was before.

Part of the alternative fuel thing is research, who knows what we may find? It's like funding to find a cure for AID's or Cancer. You don't know what will work or if anything at all will work, but you keep trying. Eventually you may have a break through that will pay dividends and much more.

Outsourcing labor to other countries at the moment is a concern far less significant than restructuring our financial institutions. Although I generally agree that the off shoring of jobs is not a good thing, you have to look at it both ways. If the company saves a lot of money on non-significant manufacturing/low wage jobs, they will probably be more financially stable in the long run which helps our economy (Not to mention that the companies would have capital freed for R&D, development, expansion, etc.) The United States has essentially become a service industry. Long gone are the days in which American factories dominated the job markets. A large % of workers in the U.S. is some kind of engineer, marketer, sales rep, accountant, R&D, etc. This could be a double edged sword, I don't know. Hindsight is 20/20. *Shrugs*

The irony of this is hilarious. Why is leslie happy that Barack is president? Yet is glad that Prop8 passed.

Leslie: Do you actually know a single thing Barack stands for? A single thing he plans on changing?

Or are you just once more regurgitating what you here.

Here's some advice. Think for your god damned self. Research things, see what they mean, see how they will affect the world, and how they will affect you, and decide from there.

Until then, SHUT YOUR GOD DAMNED MOUTH.

That was one thing that bothered me about Obama's campiegn.

" Change!"

Okay, what KIND of change?"

" The good kind!!"

What are you changing?"

"...Change!!"

I saw a Buss downtown ( Seattle) with some politican saying " MEANINGFUL change

Oh! MEANINGFUL change! That explains EVERYTHING!

Instead of spending so much time and money on campaigning why don't they just hold a scrabble tournament?

I'm guessing you didn't bother watching the debates, listening to his plans nor his stance on anything, did you? You sound like you watched the daily show, south park, and saw a catch phrase without actually looking into the politics of the issue. He talked about what he wanted to change, and why he sees himself as the start of change for this country.

Besides the fact that one huge wall was torn down based solely on the fact that he's half black.

Actually, no. I don't have TV.  So I haven't watched anything in the past 6 months.

All I know is what I heard from everyone else which was 'Obama = change.'

On that note; I'm out. I knew better than to reply to ANYTHING you say. I should listen to myself more often.

OH PLEASE!!!!

You make a horribly retarded comment about how Obama keep mentioning change, but didn't explain what it meant. Shall I quote you?

You were the one that said Obama's campaign was always mentioning change but never said what the change was. You then admit to not knowing a damned thing about his campaign at all.

Let me emphasize this

QuoteOn that note; I'm out. I knew better than to reply to ANYTHING you say. I should listen to myself more often.

You're right... you shouldn't reply to anything I say. You obviously don't know ANYTHING, so replying will only make you look stupid.

Jun-Watarase

Wait, what? You were just whining about how much you're irked by his campaign and how vague it is... when you just admitted to not even watching a single thing pertaining it. Do you not see the problem there? lol

You know, I often catch myself about to hit reply to something just to post something random about something I may or may not know anything about.

People have an...instinctive? Impulsive? I like Impulsive better, let us use that one.

People have an impulsive desire to hit reply and type something up about a subject, regardless of knowledge, just to do it. I know I do it all the time, but I don't feign ignorance or get defensive about a subject. I know better.

Here's some main points I want to make.

1) If your going to hit reply, say something, and then later get defensive about it when someone calls you out about something you say....just don't hit reply.

2) You should have known Mikey would be there to tell you your an idiot, especially if you say something like

Quote from: Yuu on November 07, 2008, 10:40:31 AM
" Change!"

Okay, what KIND of change?"

" The good kind!!"

What are you changing?"

"...Change!!"

It's just asking for someone to come along and say something exactly what Mikey said. This is exactly what is wrong with American politics and education. People just listen to other people who have uninformed opinions about issues they know absolutely nothing about. This is how we f*** ourselves over in absolutely everything we do. Our generation is the worse offenders. Previous generations took the time to read the papers, listen to the debates on radio, etc. The younger generations, with access to the internet and various other technologies previous generations could only dream about, could easily stay informed but they choose not to.

Really? Seriously? Let me bold what you said and ask you if you voted in the election. Mikey is sometimes rude, offensive, bold, and a jerk. But most of the time, he is right on with his analysis. I wish he would put things in a different way sometime as well, but when you read things like what I have in bold in your statement, it makes people want to go through your statements and pick them apart.

3) You don't have a T.V. but you post on a internet forums. I'm guessing you have access to the internet. The internet is your friend in finding certain information to stay informed about Obama and his "Change". What does change mean? Go to dictionary.com or something. Read a few articles on CNN.com or Yahoo or newsweek or foxnews or SOMETHING. Don't say you don't have time, if you can post on this forums, you have enough time to read ONE article on Obama's meaning of change.
