question would a guy get into the ball with a costume like this?
http://popularsymbolism.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/re5-albert-wesker2.jpg

thank you

Zayaspif,

Although the outfit looks nice, I am going to say that the outfit does not fall under semi-formal.  Although it is a cosplay, it is not a semi-formal cosplay.  Sorry.

Hello! I made this really classy dress and I'm not quite sure if I can get in with it. Even though it is formal, it's shorter in the front and longer in the back and on the sides. Here is a very similar dress, but mine is floor length.

It's sheer like that on the bottom too, but over all I believe it to be formal all the same.. I just don't want to have put in all this work and be denied entry -_-

As long as the front of it isn't high than 2" about the knees. Also make sure no one can see through that sheer.

I'll take a picture and post it asap. It's hard to explain lol... edgy and classy at the same time haha... if worst comes to worst I'll just pin the front if they say it's unacceptable lol.

Small question.  I can't seem to find my sportcoat, is it absolutely required for the ball or is it optional?  This thread is now some 19 pages long and I'm not even sure what I'd start searching for using the search feature.

I don't think that'll deter you from entering. I'm planning on just going in a dress shirt, tie and slacks.

Being a guy is boring clothes-wise sometimes.

Err, that doesn't answer if it's required.  If I show up in a long sleeve button up, dress slacks and a tie, will I be turned away because I lack a suit jacket?

Okach

No - after all, I had to perform at the ball like that :).

Taiki, the sportcoat is not needed for you to go to the BWBall.  The minimum that you would need would be a long sleeve button up shirt, slacks and nice shoes.  I hope that answers your question.

Preschuttidesigns, the front of the dress looks a bit high. Basically the solid part of the dress cannot go any higher than 3 inches from your knee.  In looking at the picture, even if you have the sheer part on there, the dress would not be appropriate for the ball.  Now if you were to make some changes a bit and extend the length of the skirt part, it should be fine as long as it fits the criteria of being no shorter than 3 inches from your knees.  I hope that helps.

OK, I think I got everyone. If I didn't please email [email protected] and I will get to your questions.  Sorry for being so short on the answers today, I have to get last minute things ready for the BWBall.  See you all at FanimeCon and the Black and White Ball!!

As far as Cosplay suits go for males will the suit that Spike Speigel wears from Cowboy Bebop be accetped as formal attire?
