Mary Janes should be fine as long as it's leather and the heels are around 4 inches or less.  To test for marks, wear your shoes and go find some light colored pavement (i.e. sidewalk) and press down on your heel and scrape.

To clarapark96,

Is it possible to post a link or picture of what they look like?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-BROWN-KNEE-HIGH-PLATFORM-WEDGE-STRETCH-BOOTS-/190675881148?pt=US_Women_s_Shoes&var=&hash=item2c652b0cbc

The boots would only work if they were part of a cosplay. My concern is that the soles of the feet would mark up the dance floor and although they may be comfy to walk around, they may not be the best shoes to dance in.

They are part of my cosplay! Thank you so much!

Please test them for marking and plan accordingly.

Would this be an acceptable cosplay costume to wear during the Ball?

I wont use the glasses or any props of course.

Recently got a terrible haircut. Any chance I wear a cap to the event, everything else formal?

I doubt a cap like a baseball cap would be allowed. Look for a top hat or bowler hat. If it goes with a cosplay probably a fancy, not cheap fabric newspaper boy hat.

No wig?

It's a terrible haircut. I don't have any bowler hats or top hats, just New Eras =\. Maybe it can be an exception? Wig is out of the question lol.

The event wont be until Sunday and there will be two wig sellers at the convention as well as gothic lolita vendors. Someone should have something to help you. If they made an exception for you I'd be unfair to others.

Other people didn't get a terrible haircut though lol. Hopefully I'll be able to wear a cap, since I don't particularly want to pay a lot for a wig I'll use one time. Thanks for the input however, I appreciate it.

Boots are no go unless they're part of a cosplay, sorry. :(   If they are, bring a picture of the character being cosplayed so it'll make it easier to usher you guys in.

Baseball caps are no go either unless you're pulling off a formal Terry Bogard or sports cosplay.

Will you send people away if the bottom of their heels are slightly smaller than a nickel?

My shoes look similar to this except mine have a full back instead of just a strap.

The bottom of the heel is a little bit smaller than the size of a nickel. If that's the only thing that goes against the dress code, would you allow me to enter?

How would a formal Terry Bogard cosplay look like? A sports cosplay?

@Cloud - Yes, there is a good chance that you can get turned away.  We tried an appeals process last year at the door and it was a nightmare to keep consistent.  This year we are streamlining the checks for the monitors and doing straight gos/no gos.

@Andy - formal Terry Bogard - Red dress vest, white long sleeved dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up, blue dress slacks and red dress shoes.  The red ball cap can then be worn.  You can try the red sneakers, but red dress shoes will definitely get you in the door.

formal baseball player - Cap, long sleeved dress shirt with team logos, striped/solid dress pants depending on the color scheme of the uniform, dress shoes in the color.
