I was pretty shock and sad at the same time when I read this.

Old news. This was expected to come sooner. No one cares about print magazines anymore, and frankly, online publications are pretty terrible. The only point to them are to get news and see what's coming. Reviews and articles are all bias'ed and basically made only to aim to people that "think they're in the know and follow gaming news".

This should probably be in Gaming.
Yeah I kind of figured.  I wasn't sure if this is either appropriate for news or gaming.  Move it to gaming if do.

I used read couple of there EGM when I was pretty young good ol times.  Sad to see it go and they almost reached their 20th anniversary this year.

EGM still exists?
I thought that went down 3 years ago, when I started to get some random computer mag instead of it.
Oh well, I read Game Informer now anyways, so it won't (shouldn't) effect me.

Not directly, no.  However, times are really tough for print media in general and I don't think EGM will be the last gaming magazine to go under (far from it).  Game Informer is probably still going due to how heavily tied it is to GameStop, but that may not be any guarantee either depending on how things go for the magazine.  Even the "official" magazines aren't safe, since Games For Windows (formerly Computer Gaming World) went under last year as well.

I have fond memories of reading EGM in my childhood.  I suppose it was inevitable, but I am a bit disheartened.

I wouldn't place EGM as a childhood memory for myself (I'm way too old for that), but I do share the general sentiment.  Yeah, it's not surprising that the decline in print media is affecting more magazines, especially with today's economy.  However, it's kinda sad to see even EGM go.

EGM was a damn good(and I mean damn good) magazine, and it was a really bad move to axe it. Game Informer should have gone down instead.

EGM hasn't been good since the mid-90's when they decided to make EGM2.

i dont remember when, but I remember around issue 100 when it was epically thick, and now the issues are epically thin...

and as much as i hate to admit it, Game Informer became #1 (only because its pushed by Monopoly -> gamestop) now.

I mean, GI is mostly *cough cough* unbiased, and of course we could always refer to IGN, 1up.com and good friends who actually know what theyre talking about...

then again most ppl, just jump in the bandwagon when it comes to popular games. *cough cough* GH -> RB

I remember when i first got GH1 (and before that Karaoke Revolution) and people thought these games where too lame to play, oh sure throw in 2 guitars and (of course the ever popular drums) but i digress...

technically I miss EGM, but somethings just come to an end. :P

Huh? Half the stuff you're saying doesn't even make sense. If you're going to talk about GI being BIAS... so is IGN, and 1up. Every game magazine is bias and every major publication is bias. Most game reviews are bought and/or get there review because of the company logo on the game, more so than the game itself. Pretty much every major reviewer has stated this before.

GH1 was thought to be lame? So lame that it sold in the millions? GH1 was where it completely took off. It was hugely popular. Karaoke revolution was lame... and it still is. The song selection was horrible and as a stand alone it was pretty poor.

Well, I am a little saddened.  We still get (got, I suppose) EGM at home but it was obvious something was up the way everyone was jumping ship.  I just wonder if we're going to get refunded for the rest of our subscription.

We won't switch to a different gaming magazine.  EGM was at least somewhat entertaining.
