I have been thinking of having a general panel in which addresses the current culture that is vocaloid; some early ideas currently are the beginning of the madness, nicovideo in-jokes and reasoning behind derivative characters (Yowane Haku, Akita Neru), recognizable/early popular fan parodies (I.E. MikuMikuDance App, Chibi Miku-san).

The panel is looking to be somewhat informative, with commentary, and other workings in how the system really works.

I'm thinking that doing this panel alone may be a little intimidating, so I'm looking for some partners to help me with the material.

If pockystix is reading this, this is based off of your original proposal.

Ideas? Comments?

The VOCALOID fandom has crossover successfully to the western fandom, so I could see a panel like this generating interest to congoers. It'd also be a good chance to educate the masses about the true meaning behind the software, as opposed to just the mascots everyone knows and loves. Other than the technicalities of the software, there's also like various popular VOCALOID videos & songs, as well as the impact it made on Nico Nico Douga and it's popularity within the anime fandom.

I may be interested in helping out, to contribute any little blurbs I'd like to add. I haven't kept up with the VOCALOID ranking in months, though. Lately I've been more interested in the Nico Singers that cover the songs rather than VOCALOID itself.

Oh yeah, no one calls me pockystix anymore. ;l

This is relavant to my interests. Looking forward to seeing this go through. Why not crossplay for the ocassion too, Chun.

I believe the deadline for panel info to go into the program guide is March 27, so Chun, if you really want to do this panel, some info should be sent asap. I think there'd be a much bigger turn out.

Correction, the deadline for panels to be included in the program guide is March 23rd, not March 27th.

Edit: Drat. Apparently I lie, because the website says the 27th. xD;;;
Can't believe I forgot my own deadline... obviously, I am tired. ><;;;

Yes, the deadline is the 27th.

Cool idea, hope it goes well for you Chun. Just please no Caramelldansen related stuff, and more po-pi-po. Also, Nico-Nico trends would be kind of hard to explain though to people who don't know what it is, heck I don't even know must of the trends on Nico-Nico.

Fantastic idea! I myself and a friend will be cosplaying original VOCALOIDS, so I think this panel would be great. Maybe we'll learn something we didn't already know.  :) I can't really help out with the panel, ( :'() but it's a really great idea so I hope it happens.

I don't want to see half a dozen Miku cosplayers. I want to see Luka and Rin there as well =D

Well if anything, my panel's currently on Sunday, so there maybe be more cosplay than you can handle. (Slightly worried about Masquerade's Time though)
