I'll probably cling to anyone I know who is going for food when I'm hungry. :D

I tip based soley on the experience.  If I'm picking up take out food, no I do not tip.  If the service isn't good, heck no I do not tip.  If the service is ok, I tip at about 15%.  If the service is good, I tip well.

I do this all year long, not a fanime thing.  I'm not as bad as my mother, who was a waitress.  She once left a tip that was a note telling the waiter to button his shirt and get a different job.
Sometimes I'm glad I became a teacher.  Other times I wish I had simply become a ninja.

JTchinoy

Don't tip at all? ouch.  Unless they did a horrendous job, like not check on me at all or not get my order to me in a timely manner, etc.  I give them the standard 15%.  horrendous gets 10%.

My roommate is a valet parker at the Marriott, so he tells me first hand that the majority of Fanime goers don't tip them nor the bellboys.  I pray everyone in this thread tips.  :)

That's the whole point of me asking if he tips.  :)
It's a reference to the lack of tipping that occurs at the Marriott.

Bad gets no tip or very low tip. Decent gets 10% tip. Good/great gets a 15%+ from me.

What about at a buffet like Todai or King's Buffet? Do you give the servers a tip there?

BTW, first thing I eat will be Pocky.

Blasphemers, the lot of you!

If you order something that has to be served to you, tip.  If you just buffet it, no tip.

I tip when it comes to services performed.  If you bring my luggage up to my room, that's $5 to you.

You have to be a bellboy/girl for the hotel AND I'm staying in my apartment on 11th st. so no tip for you.  :D

You'll never get a tip from me.
I pay the restaurant money not the waiters.

Silly waiters thinking they get my money =P

Actually, we try to tip for buffet restaurants too, just not the usual 15%-20%. Closer to 10%-15%. The idea being that they still clear the table of the dishes during the meal and at places like Todai, they serve the drinks too. At hotels like the Hilton, I try to tip $3-$5 depending on the service. And an additional $5-$10/day for the maids. But thanks for the reminder to bring more cash in smaller bills.

Back on topic, I'll be there first thing Saturday morning, so probably some type of breakfast food.
