to make this more clear on the rules for L4D. Tournament.

here they follow..

Tournament Information:
Left 4 Dead 4v4 Tournament
4-on-4 Versus mode, Zombies vs. Survivors.

Tournament System:
    Teams will progress by having a higher overall score at the end of the match which includes all the rounds on both survivor and infected sides. The teams will be eliminated down to one final winning team at the end of the bracket.

Team Member Backups:
    If you wish, you can sub in members at the last minute if it comes down to it and you have no other choice..

        However - in order to do this, the subbed in member must not be a part of ANY other team. No individual may be on more than one team during this tournament, and may not sub in to any team if he/she has already competed for another team.

Do-Overs / Rematches:
    There are no do-overs or anything of the sort. Once you and your opposing team agree to begin the actual tournament match, no member of either team can decide against it counting as the final result. By this I mean no member can say "I have to go do a chore, let's end this game and make the next one official." or anything similar to that.

    The Maps:
    Both versus maps "No Mercy" and "Blood Harvest" will be involved in the tournament, the map assigned to you will not be by your teams' choice... rather by the corresponding round you are on.

    Hosts:
    Which ever team signed up for the tournament first has the right to host the match.

    Choosing Sides:
    The hosting team (whether the first team to sign up or not) gets to choose if they start as survivors or infected first.

    Cheating:
    Any form of glitching, tricking or cheating that is used to exploit the game outside it's designed functionality will result in your team's disqualification and the immediate progression of your team's opponent.

        This includes:

        Skipping crescendo events

        Double Melee

        Blocking Paths

        No Tank can enter a safe room if no survivors are inside.

        Special Infected must not obstruct tops of ladders themselves.

        Survivors can not hide under any stairs (Example: NM4) or between Air Conditioning units (Example: NM5) or on any area that requires a running jump to get to (Example: NM5). Hiding behind the lift is however an acceptable tactic (Example: NM4).

        Hunters are not allowed to pounce through safe room doors once closed.

       Tanks may not attempt to punch or throw rocks through walls.

    Tie-Game:
    In the unlikely event of a tie score, the two tied teams will simply have a second match.

My stolen hard drive and being down to the dime for Fanimu this year (I may have 20$ for food if I'm lucky) makes it difficult, though.

Holy crap, most of these rules are utter bull.

There's no reason to ban this, it's legitimate strat. It's like banning weapon swapping in Halo for double melee or reload tricks in other games.

Blocking Paths

Legit

There is no reason to have this either. It removes strategy. You're basically limiting the infected team by saying "You can't use strats that work".

See above. This is legitimate... this is part of team work. Your partner has to wait below the ladder and keep it clear while another player climbs up, they allowed infected to do this on purpose... You're basically stating and second minding the programmers in stating that this wasn't done on purpose(though lolol they already said it was). There's nothing game breaking about this at all, you can easily get around it it's just part of strats.

An example of how this rule is.

Huh? What? Why not? HAY GUYS, IN A ZOMBIE INVASION, YOU GUYS CAN'T HIDE IN PLACES IT'S HARD FOR THE ZOMBIES TO GET YOU!

Now you're doing the opposite, you're removing strats from the survivors to be safe. Basically you killed everything in this game outside of "Survivors need to run through it together, and infected have to zerg rush".

Punching through walls and rock throws with the tank. Even the CPU does this. You can molotov and pipe bomb him through the wall and there isn't really a game breaking point where you automatically win if you hide behind a certain wall where they can't get through or anything like that. Once more...

all these rules are saying are "strategy does not belong in this game. Zerg rush it, or else you're cheating."

I agree with EVERYTHING Pyron said except for the blocking safe room with tanks. That is just messed up but if you let a tank in then that is your own fault and you should have to deal with it
