Any chance this will happen for Fanime 2010?  It was a highlight for me at ALA...

to be safe, I would not have it on convention grounds, even if there is no alcohol. if there is alcohol, then DEFINITELY not have it anywhere NEAR con. We have strict rules about food and drink, and even stricter rules about alcohol.

Just to emphasize again....

Rum Party's have been pretty popular in SoCal because they're all-age friendly. Our pirate crew serves up free "Rum" (which is just fresh iced tea) as well as other nonalcoholic drinks at no charge to anybody at the convention. We also run a number of pirate-themed gambling games that people can win gold coins at. The gold coins are used to win people in our Pirate/Wench auction or to enter contests.

There was no alcohol served, offered, or even available for sale. It was just a fun party.

alcohol is a concern, but beyond that, anything food or beverage related the convention center is strict on about and so we ask that it be taken OFF convention grounds.
