Crowne Plaza Hotel?

I never stayed at a hotel for a convention.  I noticed the Hilton and Marriot are pretty expensive for me but I found the Crowne Plaza hotel.  It's just around the corner and it's a bit cheaper (roughly $110 per night).

To those who have stayed here, is it a good hotel to stay in compared to the Hilton and Marriot?

I stayed there my first year at Fanime. There's nothing wrong with the hotel, but it really is wonderful to be in one of the hotels connected to the convention center.

The hotel looks a lot better from the first time I visited Fanime ('07) with the renovations that they did.
If you don't mind walking back and fourth, the Crowne Plaza is a good choice.

Although the hotel isn't connected directly to the convention center, it is still a very good hotel. In some ways it's better than staying at the hilton or the marriot. When I stayed there in this year, it seemed much more relaxed. The elevator wasn't crowded and busy, so it was sometimes faster getting to con than if you were using the hilton elevators. And at night time I didn't hear people noisly running around the hallways like idiots.
Overall a good choice.

This is the thing I'm most concerned about lol.  Cons tire me out and I'd like to have some sleep for the next day.

I'm also worried about the hotel being overcrowded with con-goers.  I hate that.

Only problem I ever had with the Crowne Plaza is that the room we stayed in had the LOUDEST toilet ever. Seriously, like an airplane taxiing down the runway. Do that at 3am while half-asleep and see if you're not afterward. ^^ Also I was terrified of waking other people in the room with the damn thing.

There are only a few floors for the Crowne, so over crowding isn't common. All the staff are very polite and courteous too.

The Crowne is not that far from con, It's just across the street from the Hilton and merely the width of San Carlos Ave away from con.

I would say that would be my third choice after the Hilton and Marriott, even over the Fairmont....they have mean doormen there....

That's because the doormen don't let riff-raff into the Fairmont, see... ;D

But yeah - as a con-goer, the Crowne would be tie for 2nd place with the Marriott; it's farther, but it's less hectic.

I guess we cant have events in there....It's unfortunate they don't even let the con chair in, kinda like those wikipedia bastards...
