I'm really confused, what is a pre-registration? Is there a deadline or something?

If you pre-register, you get a spiffy laminated badge and can pick up your badge on Thursday, one day before the con officially starts. There will be some pre-con activities that'll require a badge. Oh, and it's cheaper than registering at-door too.

Yes, there is a deadline. After each deadline, the price goes up, and after the pre-reg deadline, you'll only be able to early register, which gives you all the privileges of a pre-reg except the spiffy badge.

And the Thursday pick up. Anything done on Thursday will be Pre-Registration only. Pre-Reg usually lasts until March or so, if I recall correctly.

Not all activites on day/night zero will require a badge though. [pending approval by Fanime staff]

For example the Swamp meet on Thursday night may not necessarily require a badge.
It gives an opportunity for some of our members to make all their money the night before the Con officially opens up... just to blow all their money then on registration and/or everything else at the Con.  :)

Pre-reg - special laminated artistic badge. [deadline should be listed] Thursday / preview night pick up only for Pre-registered only.

Early registration - still slightly discounted [depending on deadline] - badge pick up on Friday morning and there after.

On site registration - full price - non spiffy badge. weekend or individual days of the convention as needed.

I have a question? If me and my friend pre-register before the end of March, do we have to pick up the badges on Thursday the 27th? Or can we pick them up whenever we get into town since we have to fly in?

You can pick them up after Thursday as well.

If you pre-register, you can pick up your badge any time that registration is open. Pre-registration gets the added benefit of being able to pick up their badge on Thursday. Times are yet to be announced, so keep checking. :D
