I can get the pants, tie and chain but the shirt is a bit tricky. Also my sewing skills are zero.
Here is a reference pic.
I seen some on ebay, but it looks a bit shady and also the wait time is very long.

Not your typical anime junkie.

modifying a black button shirt is the best way to go for this shirt. Red ribbon and a small amount of black fabric could get the job done. about a 25 dollar job if you ask me. Though the waist area is where it gets tricky, I would have to do that in person to make sure it doesn't squeeze the life out of you.

Got to agree with JJ modifying is your best bet for this kind of thing. At Joanne's or most fabric stores they have pre-made bias tapes. I would recommend getting the thickness for quilt/blanket edging in a scarlet color. You could apply it by hand even with a running stitch (not that complicated just google it) or joanne's also sells nesew iron fabric glue that should do the trick. Also unless you want to wear empire waisted pants shirts don't taper in like that. The quick costuming lesson is that in the old days pants were cut to the natural waist about 4-6" higher than modern pants and that's without sagging. The natural waist is the skinniest area between the chest and the hip measurment usually just under the ribcage.

Well after learning how to make costumes in collage, you learn the best way to do things is modifying at times making it yourself is the best way to go. The shirt will be taper like shown in the anime picture, it isn't that hard. Just a lot of gathering up the fabric to make it do what it is suppose to do.

Does anyone know how to make realistic white angel wings? I'm probably not going for full sized wings for convenience's sake.

I wanted to do Rinoa's limit break Angel Wing from FFVIII. Also...does anyone know of any places where I could get ribbed blue fabric that matches?

Depending on how much money you have to spend I would recommend looking at Victoria's Dance & Costume. They should have anything from the cheapy halloween ones to a good pair of theatrical quality. As for the ribbed fabric I would recommend either Fabrics R Us in San Jose or Fabrics.com. I've only come up wanting a couple times at Fabrics R Us, so I'd start there.

^ I second tht. Victoria's Dance & Costume is a good place, from my past experiences.

If fabrics r us does fail you I found these two knits on fabrics.com.

http://www.fabric.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=6fefbcbd-797f-45ef-9184-4d9119f5c0f6

You'd probably want the first one for the project you're doing. The only annoying thing is you'd have to darken every other stripe, which could be done with fabric markers. Also remember to get a stretch needle before trying to sew it or it will be an unholy mess.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I live about a 45min drive away from SJ so venturing out there for fabric might not be an option considering I don't have a car for myself.... As for the wings is it possible to link the source of what you guys are talking about?

Victoria's official website is http://www.victoriasdancecostume.com/ Unfortunately they do not have pics of the things they have in the store. (It's a real treat to see all the stuff) On a side note a quick bing search turned up:
http://www.bing.com/shopping/angel-cupid-feather-wings-22-white-costume-accessory/p/D14665C8626DAFA75001?q=costume+wings+feather&lpf=0&lpq=costume%2bwings%2bfeather&FORM=EGCA&lppc=16

Depending on budget and what your feel of what it should be. As for the distance thing I completly understand. I'm originally from the SJ area, but am now out in Tracy.

Thanks for all the help! I pretty much found everything I need now...I just need all the money to afford everything and make it.

Not a problem that's what the forums and this thread are for.

I'm stuck on the LAST part of my cosplay O___O!

For the cosplay for Revy from Black Lagoon I cannot for the life of me find any belts online that are even remotely similar... I have everything else except for that. I even got all creative with the fake handguns (thank you Wal Mart haha) but yeah. I've searched everywhere, any idea where to get the belt????

http://media.animevice.com/uploads/0/9491/243983-revy_super.jpg
there's Revy with her belt T_T blargh

dajoo

What you want are tactical belts. You may have to modify the buckle area but I think I've seen that kind of closure on the belts before. Best bet in the San Jose area is Steven's Creek Surplus. In the Tracy area I would suggest "The Everything Store." If neither of those are in your area lookup surplus or airsoft tactical stores. I got basically that same belt in white for my Ghostbusters costume at Steven's Creek Surplus

mdarkpoet

Wow haha that's the best response I've gotten O_O I'll definitely try Steven's Creek Surplus thank you  :D

If I remember correctly the belts are in the left part of the store in the back on the endcap facing the bathroom. Happy hunting.

Is it possible/easy to stylize a wig and how?

I finally got the wig I ordered around a month ago. However, I'm not all that happy with the bangs.

This is my wig:

This is the character:

(Chisame Hasegawa from Negima)
Bigger picture: http://mjv-art.org/pictures/get_image/17167-1280x960-mahou+sensei+negima-hasegawa+chisame-chiu-roulin+rouge.jpg

I think I have to cut the bangs shorter and some of the main hair shorter to go in the front. Is there some special way to cut wigs or can I just treat it like normal hair?

Also, she has that annoying little piece of hair standing up in the air like that. Is there anything I can do to replicate that?

Keep in mind I have absolutely no experience with wigs whatsoever. ^^;

Fanime will be one of my first conventions, is there any sellers there that might have some cosplays to buy? I'd like to do a sailor moon character the problem is I don't think I can get the money in time AND have them ship it. Or does anyone have a ebay seller that they can recommend that's rather fast? I heard there will be at least one wig store there so :D I don't think I need to worry too much!
