What would you like to see the most at the B&W Ball?

Mixer dances
Instructor routines (choreography)
Instructor demos (improvisation)
Instructor battles (hint: blindfolds)

So the purpose of this poll is to gauge what stuff might be interesting to people.  Any or all of these may put in an appearance at the ball.

it would be mostly cliche - but i thought the point of a " Ballroom " setting was to see it like the movies

example of link to you tube. - " ball room dance " scene from say like Disney's Enchanted or something something like that.

where you see a huge group of paired off dancers all dance to the same song in the same dance style /waltz type.

crown someone [or a specific cosplay groups with dance groups] and have them perform center dance stage.

once all that organize or choreographed large group dancing is completed - then open it up to all "free" dance.

just my 2 cents. :)

So did you vote for choreo? :)  That's why it's in the poll...

I should point out that large group choreo like you describe is hard because of the number of people involved (there aren't THAT many instructors) and the lack of room to maneuver.  Also, the view from the edge of the floor will be bad.  Most formation teams in ballroom don't have that many couples in it, the norm would be less than 10.  However, it is something to consider...we'll see.

I have to admit a cliche thing such as last couple standing would be awesome. :]

yeah i think that having people all file down the floor dancing from one end to the other isn't the best way to do it... it's cool, looks good, and i'm sure the people enjoy it, but it takes up a lot of time and the people who don't know the exact combinations from the classes can't really do it as easily.

it would be cool if you did what Jerry said, something like this:
1. cool instructor routine, choreographed if there's time, so people can see how fancy the instructors are.
2. start the song
3. people filter on

this way, people don't have to wait for the conveyor belt thing.  unless everyone likes that, in which case we should do that.  whatever the people want!  i'm just throwing out my opinion.

Okach

Well, we're going with instructor demos and mixers.  Sorry for the belated notice.  No conveyor - just pop out towards the middle of the floor and sidle off.

Is there no Morp this year?

To my knowledge, Morp is prom backwards and it is a dance where instead of dressing up, you dress down and the girls ask the guys rather than the guys asking the girl.  I don't think we have ever had a morp during FanimeCon but if a girl would like to ask a guy to dance during the Ball there is no problem with that.  :)

So the answer is no morp.  You have to adhere to the dress code for the BWBall.  And Females can always ask males to dance, there is nothing against it.
