All anime fans should take a moment of silence for the passing of Carl Macek.

I shook his hand at AOD before he passed away.  I should of brought my Robotech Art One book for him to sign.

Amen.

Wow, I had no idea. Robotech was my anime gateway. RIP Carl Macek.

Back when Robotech was the new thing to watch on television, when tvs were small, VHS tape reined supreme, and laserdiscs were cutting edge tech, there was Carl Macek. I never really liked the creative decisions that were made of Robotech, heaven knows I have made fun of his work whether talking about it or working on fan parody dubs about him.

Carl Macek, the man, was impressive in that he helped bring about anime to the general public like no one before him or since.  I dare say anime might still be considered a rare underground cult if he hadn't given the initial nudge. I am sad to hear of his passing

One of my early anime I watch back when I was kid. R.I.P. Carl Macek.
