That's riiiiiiiiiiiight! I'm curious how many of you knew that there are Anime Musicals that have been occurring for longer than a decade in Japan? And best of all, these musicals ceom from some of the most popular anime! For example, there's Sailor Moon's SeraMyu, and Prince of Tennis's TeniMyu. And did I mention the Bleach Rock Musical from the cast of BleachMyu? Here's one you probably wouldn't expect... A Kuroshitsuji Musical! And what can be cooler than AirMyu, the Air Gear musical done entirely on ROLLER BLADES! And that's just a few to get you started.

So this panel will introduce you to a lot of the anime musicals out there, as well as some of the major stars. Here's a little interesting fact! The majority of the second cast of the TeniMyu musicals were the same ones who played the Prince of Tennis characters in the live action movie.

The world of anime musicals is dramatic, colorful, and often times completely and utterly random and hilarious. And this panel will let you take a look inside all the madness.

And even better? We'll have some live performances! We'll play the music and videos from some of the most well known songs form these musicals, and there will be cosplayers dancing for you! And best of all? If you know the song, you're welcome to join in!

We'll even teach you a short dance from the Bleach Rock Musical.

So this is one you REALLY don't want to miss!

Monday at 1pm @ Panels Room 1.

-Hey! Do you and some friends want to perform one of the songs from an anime musical? Let me know! I'd love to have more people dancing along to the clips, and if you have a few people willing to dance, I'll make sure to add that song to our line-up. Comment below.

-Also, aside form the musicals mentioned above, are there other anime musicals you'd like to see us talk about? Let us know in a reply!

Let the show begin!

I approve! :D

I dunno if I'll be there at 1pm on Monday, but I'll be there if I'm still at the con! I'm such a big fan of all the musicals! XD Tenimyu was what got me started but I adore them all now!

Are we learning Tuti's dance?! TELL ME WE ARE I'M SO THERE. XD

Hehe. The Sailor Moon musicals are the ones that got me started on Anime Musicals, but it was TeniMyu that made me really fall in love with them.

What's Tuti's dance? If you can give me a link to what you're talking about, I'm sure I could probably include it in the panel. ^_^

I know Tuti was in the Bleach musical, and I think I heard he was in Prince of Tennis musical. If it's a dance from the Bleach one, then you can count on me to know it. If the one you're referring to is Hona Sainara, then not only do I know it, but I'll make anyone else who knows it my new best friend.

Before Tuti was in Bleach myu, he was first gen oishi in tenimyu! :)

It is Hona Sainara :P I just call it Tuti's dance since he taught it to people haha.

Mmkay, planning and organizing of the songs is all done! I'm SO ready for this panel! Much better than trying to wing it like I did with last years panels. Here are the musicals represented:

BuriMyu (Bleach)
TeniMyu (Prince of Tennis)
Kuroshitsuji Musical
SeraMyu (Sailor Moon)
AirMyu (Air Gear)

I know there are others, but these seem to be the main ones, and there's only so much I can cover in an hour when you consider that most songs are 3-5 minutes in length, AND we have to teach you all a dance. ^_^ You better be here, or you'll be missing out!

Eri Kagami

I was actually at an Anime Central panel last weekend that covered the same thing. She also covered the following:

Rose of Versailles

Phoenix Wright

Pokemon Live! (off broadway show)
I met the actor who played Ash Ketchum twice. He currently plays Tommy DeVito in the current Broadway run of Jersey Boys. Really nice guy! It's just funny to see him go from ditzy Ash to a potty mouthed gangster. (Jersey Boys is an awesome show, btw)

There have also been musical incarnations of Fruits Basket, Peacemaker Kurogane, Shugo Chara, etc.

It would be interesting to note that some of the Sera Myu performers also have gone on to doing the Japanese transfers of Broadway shows. Anza (Sera Myu) has also done Miss Saigon (Kim) and Les Miserables (Eponine).

Hope this can also help!

Thanks! That's a lot of help. ^_^ I've got a full plan already, but I'll be sure to mention that there are other musicals out there too.
