Artist Alley is FULL (in under 48 hours!)

We hope to see you there!

We are artists, staffs, attendees, and sponsors of Kintoki-Con, an event that focuses on bringing the convention's experience back to the culture; and to the fans.
In addition to celebrating Japanese culture and animation, we will embrace other cultures, such as Korean and Chinese influences.

Please join us at our next convention in Sacramento, California on June 18-19, 2011!.

So what is Kintoki-Con?
Kintoki-con is a con created not just around Japanese media (though it is a great part of it) but also Korean and Chinese. Afterall, Japan would not have existed without China right? (Hetalia reference). Korea's recent shining days are also a welcoming show of just how fast it can catch up to the game.

Why Kintoki-Con?
The name Kintoki was a spoof from Golden Hour (or Golden Time), which is when most TV stations host the hottest shows. For Japan it's when the otakus get home from work.
In China it's when kids go online in search of their favorite anime after school. In the US...its the news hour when parents get home and cartoon hour for the kids (or at least it used to be cartoon hour...lol).
Kaze-Hime of Deviantart was the one who came up with the name, after much debating over other name options.

We are now looking to fill up the staff positions and as well as looking for volunteers too.
Nothing is set in stone yet but volunteers gets a free badge and 2 free meals =D, and you only need to work 16 - 18 hours through out day 0 - 2.

More info. will be posted as time comes.
Also you get a cool boss like me =P

I'm interested in becoming staff but I can't say I'll be there for sure until the date gets closer.

In my left brain, there's nothing right & in my right brain, there's nothing left.

How often / mandatory are staff or volunteer meetings ?

Could a person say from the SJ or bay area be able to help out in the Sac area despite the distance?

I live about an hour and a half away from Sac, compared to 5-6 hours to SJ or SF. It'd be a waste for me not to go, but to attend meetings regularly it could still get a bit troublesome. I have an idea though, a live video stream of the meeting could make things easier for those who live too far.

In my left brain, there's nothing right & in my right brain, there's nothing left.

Yes people who live further away are welcome to help out.  We could even set up some of the meetings over there so you guys don't have to travel as far (or even create a halfway point for meetings)

I'm not sure how that would work but I will ask our tech guy about it.

If you are interested in staffing or Volunteer just shoot us a email at [email protected]
Thanks!

^ You could try creating a private room on tinychat and send out a link and password to whomever wants to attend via online. You can use the video chat function to broadcast the meeting live. If online participants have questions they can use the chat box. Of course there should be someone monitoring this.

In my left brain, there's nothing right & in my right brain, there's nothing left.

Cole

I'm not sure how to use a chat room, again I'd have to consult our tech guy ^^;

Thank you for the information though.

And video wouldn't be helpful since not everyone has a webcam (myself included)

Oniko

You could always go one day so it doesn't look so bad to your work ^^;
(I'm assuming you work some sort of retail which makes it hard to get weekends off like me huh?)

Not sure I want to go that far for a con unless there are some good guests (particularly seiyuus and industry people). This is one of the reasons why I don't take the trouble to go Sac Anime. Apologies if I sound rude but I do wish your con all the best.

Cole

We're working on it. Just give us a bit of time  ^^

Our undercover group that snoops through all the vendor booths in search of bootleg merchandise.  They are also responsible for detecting art thieves in Artist Alley

c2chaos

That sounds really cool, but it guess it will take a little bit of studying on the Artist Alley part.

In my left brain, there's nothing right & in my right brain, there's nothing left.

Cole

That's why we have people who know the internet and follow DA/SA/MB, etc.

It's not that hard if you know what to look for. ^ ^

BTW

Only a few more days left till the pre-reg goes up to $20.
Also note to parents. If you have little ones under 12 and under please let us know for badges!

If you're not planning on booking a room then be sure to pre-reg before it goes up! ^^
