This year is going to be the first year I'm staying at the Fairmont. I scoped it out last year during the Black and White ball and fell in love lol. I just need some general information on what's in the general rooms, I know what the Marriot and Hilton has, but no idea what the Fairmont has.

My questions to those who have stayed are this:
Wi-fi internet (biggest question, this is going to be the first year I'm taking the laptop)
Mini fridge? I know the Marriot and Hilton don't have them, but the Fairmont?
Microwave? (probably a long shot on both of these but it'd save me a lot of time haha)
Closet hangers? (weird question I know, but last year when I stayed at the Marriot there was only 1 hanger in the closet and I'll be bringing costumes to hang up)

That's pretty much it, I'd rather hear from people who have stayed personally rather than looking it up. I couldn't have predicted some of the things that happened with the Marriot even through looking it up. Personal experiences are SO much better.

Wi-fi : I'm not sure and actually I'm wondering about this myself. I believe there was but you had to pay $5 a day or something. I was thinking of calling and asking about their wi-fi service.
Mini fridge: Yes but it's really small. My friends and I were able to fit a few things we had brought and some extra small things from the Safeway near by but it was tight. Also I know some mini fridges if you take the items out, a computer reports what was removed and you get billed for it regardless if you actually consumed the item. I don't know if this is true with the Fairmont's mini fridges but my friends and I were careful and didn't move anything just in case.
Microwave: nope. :( We had a standard double room so there was no microwave.
Closet hangers: There was a good 5-10 hangers and the hotel staff is really nice. If you need more, you can call and request additional hangers.

I really enjoyed the Fairmont last year, the service was great. :)

According to openwifispots.com, both the Hilton and Marriott have free wifi, but the Fairmont sadly does not.  On their website, the only thing about internet access I could see is a high-speed connection will cost you a whopping $13.95 per day.  So, you might want to scope out the lounge in either the Marriott or Hilton and see if you can piggyback on their connection instead of being robbed.

You should also know that Fairmont's deposit policy is steeper than the other hotels. It's $100/night charged on top of your room cost. Of course this is refunded within a few business days assuming you don't pull a USA Olympic hockey team stunt on it, but you should prepare to have this money made unavailable for the duration of fanime.

According to their website, they have mini fridges available for $25 a day.

My friends and I were able to put stuff in our mini fridge (fanime is my birthday weekend so we stuffed a small cake in there). We didn't get charged so I'm not sure if maybe the information changed or maybe we got special treatment because the friend I was rooming with was 7 months pregnant.  :o

Er, well there was a mini fridge in my room as well.  However it was a fully stocked MINIBAR.  I mean yeah sure, you could stuff a couple things in there, but you have to be careful, since it's automated/has sensors. If you MOVE anything in there, you'll be charged.  Of course when I told the front desk that I just moved things to look at them, they waived the charged.

If you want your own personal, empty, mini fridge, you have to pay.

Hide your valuables. A watch was stolen from our room last year.

Oh I see, the minibar is what we used. Sorry for any confusion on my part, that's what I was talking about in my original reply. We kept a few things in there but didn't move anything around.

Hrmmm I see, I might just bring the ice chest anyways then

I am playing with the idea of putting dry ice in my cooler; it will keep the regular ice from melting so I don't need to change the ice as often  ;D

Does anyone have a transportation recommendation between the Fairmont and San Jose Airport?  According to the Fairmont's website, they don't offer a shuttle service.  A cab will be roughly $30 each way including tip.

From SJC I'm certain there is a bus to the Diridon, or a bus that takes you close to the diridon. From there you can take the lightrail to the convention center, boom. If speed isn't your primary concern, this would undoubtedly be the best route from an economic perspective.
