I have cleaned up the first six posts to reflect the many changes coming to the hangout in 2014. The first post has the updated Post key to help you find what you are looking for.
Chopped Cosplay has announced this years theme of "Attack on Titans!" The team application will be up in the next week or two which will give those competitive cosplay creation teams a chance to formulate a strategy and develop their character representation ideas.... ok, for some it will give them a reason to watch this great anime series to become familiar with it all
All I can say is.... I'm SOOOO EXCITED! and I just can't hide it!... oh sorry got lost in the moment *LOL
Hope this streamlined version helps people get the info pre con.

My initial reaction to the Chopped Cosplay theme as AoT, "oh that's so cool! I
love Shingeki". Then after really thinking about what I would want to make and what everyone else will probably make it was, "maybe not such a great idea…" It will end up as: who's gonna win, the soldier in the uniform, the soldier in the uniform, the soldier in the uniform, or TWIST the forth soldier has a cloak instead of a jacket! On the one hand it would be interesting to see how people use materials differently to create the same thing but I think that would work well for one round on one item, not so much for 3 rounds and 4 teams. Yes, there are ways that you can mix it up and do something a little off the wall and different but I think the parameters of the competition should allow this to be the exception, not force it as the rule. Also, speaking from experience those "creative alternatives" are going to be further limited by the requirement that we include the secret ingredient items. I honestly think a better choice would have been Tales of…, Sword Art Online, Vocaloid, Pokemon, even Naruto. If you want something current events relevant go with Ghibli! That's very relevant right now. I have a feeling that the only reason that Attack on Titan was chosen was because of it's EXTREME popularity right now. However, it just isn't the sort of show that lends itself to excessive creativity. Honestly, I have a feeling that by the end of this con everyone is going to get a little sick of Shingeki. Then again maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm the only one that's worried about something like this, just thought I would offer my take on it.
