HUMAN CHESS! cosplay and not: for 2012 update! read post 1!!!!

like last year i'll have cosplay chess- BUT

i'll need full game in order to play I dont want to be mean about it, but if you say your going to be there-be there!

last year i had games that couldn't be played or had to scramble at the last minuet to find people to play. (it's really stressful so please dont do that to me this year T_T)

if it's one or 2 spots to fill then the game can still happen-but if more them 4 people need to be found the game will be canceled. so for warning-not a filled game no game-

as it gets closer i'll let you know dates and times, as well as what spot is available.

but for right now

what days and times are better for people? any thoughts one the matter? and anyone want to the the second? (you can play that game-)

HOW TO PLAY 101 or 102 which ever you want it to be ^^

ok for those that dont know about chess no worries, but if you wan to know on how the pieces move then heres a very basic brake down
King: one space in any direction
Queen: in any direction but the "L" shape that the knight makes
Bishop: up to 5 in a diagonal -only on the color that they start one if they start on white they can't move to black etc
Knight/horse: "L" shapes either 2 up and on over or one up and 2 over.
Rook: up to 4 spaces in 1 direction. no diagonal only straight.
pawns: first move can be 2 spaces, only 1 after that. and can only move in 1 space diagonal if "attacking" but no going back wards.

TO PLAY IN THE GAME
there is NO PHYSICAL ATTACKS ON ANY PERSON!!
if you are going to "attack" the player that you are taking over then it's a stage fight.-what does that mean? no contact of skin on skin or body on body. you can fight them at arms length, and "kill" them remotely. (last year we had a guy with a camera, and he took pictures to "kill" his opposition.
We want you to have fun-not pain! pain is a big no-no! Also damaging props is not good either so if your Sora or Roxas and your using your key blade to fight-don't hit anything with it-as it will hurt you and your prop.

I'll show more oh 'how to' at Fanime as some people are better with visuals, or you can look up the "fights" on YouTube. (look up cosplay chess and see how they "fight")

i think that covers it! if there's anything i left out let me know and i'll change to fit it ^^

also the Game room will be running game about ever 2 hours in the gaming room. if this one fills up we'll go over there and get ya in a game! also if you ant to do a themed game let me know, i'll get the game rooms permission to do get one going. Assassin vs Templar's is still top on my list to get done ^^

It does sound interesting and I might swing by.
I thought about it last year as well. ^^;
I think perhaps people are not stopping by the forums as much yet.
It may happen more when Fanime gets closer.
But the idea is really nice.
Is it outdoors or indoors, if I may ask?
Also can I ask who plays as the chess masters or the "players" to move the pieces around?
Do people do like special attacks to "finish" a taken piece?
I think some more details would be nice. =)
But this is for Fanime 2012 right? ^^; (since the post does say "not 2012")
Just asking some questions first to get an idea of the event~

the Players would be my self one one other person, it will outside-unless bad weather then inside
and as fanime get closer i post rules of conduit for in the game. and i fixed the header as it was to have read Cosplayers and not(like people wearing everyday cloths) 2012. so that's fixed thanks for pointed that one out.

It's not too hard.
But I'm wrong about this, anyone can feel free to correct me as I haven't played in ages myself.
There are already 2 "players" that will move the pieces.
So if you're one of the chess pieces, this is what you need to know if you're any of these.

Pawn: Move up to one or two spaces forward or backward. Diagonal only to capture another piece. IF a pawn reaches the enemy side, it can become another piece like a knight.

Knight: Moves ONLY in an L formation (for example, one right, two up)

Bishop: Moves ONLY in a Diagonal line.

Rook: Moves ONLY in a line formation (up, down, left or right) even to capture another piece.

Queen: Moves in all directions, even diagonal.

King: If captured or cornered, the game ends. Able to move in all directions (but I think there's a limit on how far he can go?)

So just remember this and you should be fine. =)

Mostly correct, but pawns can't move backwards and they can only move two spaces up once from where they started on the board.

And the queen can do every move but the 'L'

Anyways I wouldn't mind participating if this takes off.

that's the beauty of this game! you dont have to. the "chess masters" tell you where to go >< you just have to be able to move (like if your being a wii remote, you can move just dont run it to people.)
