So right now I am debating whether to make my keychains shrinkydink ones or laminated ones.

Shrinky dink ones are ones where I would print it out on shrinkydink printable paper then cut it out and put it in the oven.

Laminated ones are when I print it on computer paper then laminate it and cut it out.

For both I will be using cell phone lariat straps with lobster clasps.

I was just thinking what are the pros and cons of these and which ones do you think are more popular and better to use?

For Shrinky Dinks you only have to cut them out once...and they are thick and harder to break I guess
Laminated ones you have to cut them out twice and sometimes it's messy since its hard to cut laminated plastic.

Also anyone know a good website to get cell phone lariats with lobster clasps?

I think that laminated keychains would be less hassle to make - just a lot of cutting. I made shrinkydinks all the time when I was little, and I remember that my mom had to watch them to make sure they didn't curl up. You also have to make the holes for things beforehand, and make sure they don't shrink too much when you bake them - there's a lot more to worry about than just cutting.
I think you could try cutting the laminated plastic with a craft knife or something similar. That way, you wouldn't have to deal with scissors (I hate scissors...).

For cell phone lariats, I did a quick google search (I typed in "cell phone lariat wholesale") and found these: http://compare.ebay.com/like/160731838402?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&_lwgsi=y&cbt=y

You can try jewelry stores/websites for the lobster clasps.

My keychains are always laminated; I've never tried anything else so I can't really help you too much with that. However, I can help you find good cellphone lariats! etsy.com is the best place to buy them: http://tinyurl.com/88bnxqm

I was wondering about this too. I would go with the plastic myself just because they seem more durable. I was looking into having some made out of acrylic myself.

I didn't know shrinky dinks curled up X__X;
Yeah I am sticking with laminated ones then!
You mean like a ceramic knife to cut them with? Thank you for the link by the way I totally bought the things off etsy XP

Well, I tend to use an Xacto knife for cutting out complicated shapes (I even sort of carved a pumpkin with one), so if an Xacto knife can cut through laminated plastic, I think it would work much better than scissors.

Shrinky-dinks don't curl up all that often in my experience, and I think they look a lot nicer than laminate keychains. You pretty much just print them, cut them, and then put them in the oven for five minutes. No hassle at all. It is generally best to keep an eye on them when they're baking, both to make sure nothing goes wrong and because they're neat to watch, but it isn't hard. If you ever wind up wanting to give shrinky-dinks a try, here's a tutorial.

I did laminated last year and will be trying Shrinky dink if I have time this year.  I figure it'll be an experience, like baking anything.  Some just wont come out good.  But I'm expecting most in the batch to be alright.

Hey thanks for the tutorial!  I would have never known to lighten the image.
