Now that there is a lot of talk about Hammil, Ford, and Fisher returning for the next movie, has anyone changed their mind about it's potential?

I've never had doubts about this new triliogy. So I'm all cool with it. Hammil, Ford, and Fisher makes it all better.

I would love to see members of the original cast reprise their roles, but that doesn't necessarily change the movie's potential. James Earl Jones did come back to voice Vader in Revenge of the Sith(and uttered the now infamous "noooo!!!").

Although to Abrams credit, the Leonerd Nemoy cameo did work well in the new version of Star Trek.
