Good feedback

Aside the negative feedback, I would like to commend and praise the good parts of FanimeCon 2013.

I love that fact that AA was at the South Hall (the Big Blue Tent), because it forces crowds to spread out and not have everyone stay at the CC itself. I'm hopeful that Fanime continues to use South Hall (not just AA but other events too) even when the new convention center expansion opens to spread everyone out.

And every year, despite the 'feedback' this year, I like to thank staff and volunteers for sacrificing their time and effort to make FanimeCon happen in the first place.

No kidding. Con staff was on top of it when we had some obnoxious drunks disrupting our fanfiction panel Sunday night. They were quickly ejected from the room by staff, and the panel was able to carry on with minimal wasted time and disruption.

Yeah that was pretty funny.

Despite the long horrible lines at Pre-reg, a HUGE shout out to the staff who helped out with the horrible lines. At some point the kids behind me invited friends and made a huge blob around me that went into the next line over. One of the staff came by and organized them behind me again. I swear those kids were trying to mob their way to the front slowly. Thank you for all the hard work con staff and volunteers!

This was my first Con ever and I had an AWESOME time. Honestly, if you couldn't find a way to have fun, with all the things going on and the really cool fellow con-goers to meet, I think that's on you. Of course it wasn't perfect. This is the real world, not an idealized manga. But it was a great time. I loved the Black & White Ball. Thank you all the volunteers, especially the dancing instructors. The Maid Cafe and Fanimaid Live were a lot of fun. I went to Fanimaid Live on Sat and Sun, and tried to get a picture of everyone who was on stage. If you were and you want your picture, let me know. I'm going to try to get them all posted soon. June did a GREAT job as head maid, and it's too bad she won't be doing it next year. At the cafe itself the food was a little disappointing, but I understand that isn't under their control. Most of the panels that I went to were very fun and informative, especially the ones by From Fan To Creator. The Artist's Alley was really cool, and got a lot of stuff. I wish I'd known about the unofficial swap meets, because I would have gone to them, but I managed to stock up on some good manga at the official one on Friday. Overall, the Con was totally worth attending, and I hope to go again next year.
I'm not actually crazy, but I'm not conventionally sane.

MusicFest really came through this year -- great job bringing two high energy, awesome sounding bands! Their Q&A panels were really fun too.

I agree that moving Artist Alley to the South Hall was a great idea.  Hopefully Fanime can continue to use the South Hall.

The change to the entrance/exit to the gaming room was genius.

Despite the construction, I loved the organization this year. You guys are getting real good at traffic flow; moving around the convention was easier than ever. Gotta love the big blue tent, too.

What I enjoyed/liked this year:

  • Roaming info desks: Used them 2x and better than having to hike over to the only desk I knew of near Stage Zero.
  • Dealer's Hall map: Thank you for finally having a map and allowing it to be also displayed as a list. I still remember a couple years ago when I asked if there was a map and was told by staff to basically just walk around and find out for myself who was where. Please continue to do the online map.
  • Allowing the Evangelion cockpit to be set up in the back area where reg normally is: As a hardcore Eva fan, this was a blessing.
  • Autographs: Much better this time around, although the only actual artist was Nonaka. If there were more artists this likely would have thrown a wrench into things. Nonetheless, major props to Evan and his crew for being responsive, very communicative, and making things run smoothly.

I meant to address this in my feedback form but I forgot.
Bless the genius who came up with this, because I can only imagine the countless people they've helped.
I didn't ask them any questions because my weekend had basically already been preordained, but thank you thank you thank you!
Brilliant.
