Any Full Metal Alchemist?

Hehe, I do Fullmetal Alchemist cosplay! And of COURSE I'll be bringing them to Fanime, especially my Edward Elric costume. (I'm planning on entering the masquerade with my friend as Number 48...and we'll both have all the metal parts made out of real metal!)

I currently cosplay as Ed and as Wrath, although I made most of the (craptacular) costumes that the Fullmetal Alchemist group in the masquerade at JTAF wore. I'm also going to be making Dante's ballgown from episode 49 on, although I'm not sure if I'll have that one done by Fanime or not.

It took me about two weeks to recover from the bruising from the automail. Not everybody was smart like you and realized that I could get hurt from glomps...too many people glomped me and then I screamed in pain when they made the rivets dig into my skin and my wrist and my shoulder. Especially my shoulder. >< And I'm being dumb enough to wear it to the Metreon festival...yikes!

Meh, it's not THAT bad. It's just because I forgot to pad the rivets that they started digging into my flesh. >< And it's probably better if you aren't being crazy and using actual steel...foam-and-plastic or paper-and-resin have a LOT more give than steel. Which has ZERO give.

And you're not that crazy, I will eventually have leg automail too...I need it, since I'm cosplaying (spoiler) Wrath from the end of Episode 51 (end of spoiler) at some point, and he has the same leg automail Ed does and arm automail with only the top part different, and my automail is in segments so I can just swap the top out to be either Ed or Wrath. Yes.

my suggestion my little faery friend is to wear a thick sock under the automail
especially handy on the arm, or maybe leggings under the leg bit

my best friend wants to make an alphonse armour set complete with removeable head and interchangeable face
mayhaps a chestpiece for storing the glowy thing there

O_o thats devotion there. i'm a perfectionist-cosplayer, but tattoos are my limit

and i've gotten the supplies for the automail- finally decided to use metal (basically because i've never worked with metal before)

Best padding I've found so far: NAPKINS. Paper napkins from the Metreon saved me from being in more pain. (As it is, my arm is nice and sore today.)

I think I'm refusing to wear automail again until Fanime. It's too much of a pain.

Me and about 4 other friends are planning to go as the FMA gang.... Ed, Al (in armor), Winry, Hughes, and Mustang. I'm planning to do Hughes. We have all the player for characters covered, we just need to find someone short enough to play Ed...... hmm...
