A question about confirmation number

I used to confirmation number that Fanime gave me for reserving the hotel,but when I called up the hotel they said they didn't have in their system.The hotel guy told me that they might have not sent the hotel information yet.I'm not sure what to do.I have another hotel a friend asked me to reserve for him which I did through the hotel website I want to cancel,but I might needed it for now.

CMR does not send the info to the hotels until about a week before con. So don't bother trying to contact the hotels before then.

There was actually a line in the email confirmation you recieved from Fanihousing talking specifically about that:

"DO NOT CALL THE HOTEL DIRECTLY FOR CHANGES OR CANCELLATIONS UNTIL Friday, May 16, 2014. "

If you need to make changes, you need to be talking to CMR/Fanihousing until next Friday. After that, then you call the hotel directly.
