For us Veteran,  Yes its THAT time again.
Thursday always seem to be 4-6 hours wait to pick up your badge.
This is NOT for the light heart, only true FANIME-Con-er and Dragon-born can endure such journey to Mordor!

But for your new people, HAVE FAITH! It's in a room this year that "may" hold EVERYONE IN-DOOR in year! (Last year people know what I'm talking about...)So here are my survival kit and tips I will share to all of you to survive the wait!

What to bring:
REQUIRE MATERIAL!
+ E-Card Printed out! And have it on your smart phone/laptops/tablet just in case!
+ Valid Photo I.D TO PICK UP BADGE!

Let's face it, its going to be at-least 3 hours, on average, 4-5 hours before you pick up your badge on Thursday.
So here's some item to pack to make it easier:

  • Fold-able Chairs/Canvas Chairs/Camping Chair ($10 at target)
-You will be on your feet for many hours! Unless you enjoy sitting on the floor!
  • Smart Phones/Laptops/Tablets/PSP/DS/Music
-Keep yourself entertain, battery save mode! Load it up with games or movies!
  • Extra Battery
-Think your phone has enough power, na uh, think again!
  • A Jacket
-My BIGGEST MISTAKE FROM LAST YEAR, Miss a day of FANIME cause i got sick
  • Comfy Clothes
-Relax, Enjoy! If you want to cosplay on day-0 More POWER TO YA!
  • Food, A Meal , Water, Snacks!
-Yes, you need a FULL MEAL, then some snacks, gotta keep up the energy! Water is important!
  • Money
-Never hurts, use it on food if you forgot to bring food.
  • Friends
-Forever Alone NO MORE! Help keep your place in line if you need to run to the bathroom.
Needless to say, friends will make this trips MUCH easier. No friends? No problem! Talk to your neighbor in-front of you or behind you! Or look for this GREAT LOOKING GUY! (Bsan89)
  • A smile!
-Enjoy DAY-Z ugh I mean DAY-0!!! It doesn't have to be as bad as I make it out to be.
I always see it as a block party, and part of the con experience.

Well that's it, Not too shabby huh?
If anybody else got any Tips on surviving  Day-0 Please POST EM!
Good luck fellow survivor! May the odds ever be in your favor!

there's a new badge printing system in place this year so it should go faster than usual. The reg architect is estimating 30 seconds/person and there's 18 printers.

Hey- thanks for making this guide!

I would just edit that it is now "valid photo ID" as we are allowing school IDs to the standard list of IDs we typically accept.

Coming from the frozen north I find this kinda funny, I wear shorts and a t-shirt for my entire trip.

Sorry- but one more thing

"should hold EVERYONE IN-DOOR in year!"

That's pretty assuming and I'm not even sure if that's necessarily true... Although we are back in the SJCC, the area area of where the lines are to be are fairly limited. We may or may not have the lines spill outside of the SJCC if they get too long as we aren't too sure just yet what that'll look like.

Good thing I added JACKET to the list.

I would recommend sunscreen. I got a bit of a sunburn last time.

Last year It got really cold at 6pm. I wore shorts and a adventure-time t-shirt because it was so warm during the day.

Always bring sunscreen. It's my tradition to get sunburned at this con, and, well, it isn't a very good tradition. (Granted, I'm white as a piece of paper and become a lobster in 10 minutes in the sun, but still!)

I won't be there Day 0 or early enough on Day 1 to pick up my badge (probably getting there around 8), so I'm going to be picking up my badge early on Saturday morning. I've never picked up my badge on Saturday before, so for those who have, what time would you recommend I get to reg, so I'll have the shortest wait possible? I was thinking maybe getting there an hour before it opens, but I don't know if that would be excessive or maybe not enough. What have the Saturday morning pre-reg wait times been in years past, especially in worst-case-scenario years like last year, so I know the worst possible to expect?

Thanks :]

I'm planning on getting there between 10-11, think its a good chance I'll be able to line up indoors that early?

opalwhisker

due to the last 3 years of horrible pre-paid badge pick up line waiting, I've decided it might be best for me to pick up my badge on saturday. does anyone know from experience how bad line wait is on saturday for pre-paid?
