Etiquette for transgender badge name?

Looked around and did not see any threads on this subject, so here one is.

Is there any etiquette for sending a message asking for a transgender individual's preferred name on their badge? And on the subject, how would we go about picking up our badges if our legal name does not match (e.i. the entire problem)? Do the registration team have a form of any kind they would like followed?
Please help!

I've waited on buying a badge because I don't want to see that name printed any where or risk being called by it, as it would take any and all enjoyment out of the convention.

Thank you, I've read that already, but it doesn't cover all of my questions.

There's no form, you just have to send them an e-mail explaining why you want something different printed on your badge, one or two lines should be enough.

Hi. The database is actually locked down against online changes right now. So you should just let the staffer that checks you in at registration know your situation and they will take care of it for you. See you soon!
