Fan Names on Badges?

I initially registered in January, back when reg was being handled by CMR, and put down a fan name (my online handle) as I don't want people to know my real name. However, when I picked up my badge, it was printed with my first name in the spot where my fan name should go. I only realized it later (and this was when the line was super long so I didn't want to go back), so I kept it for the weekend, but I was wondering if anyone else had this issue?

I have somewhat of an online presence and an unusual first name, so for me, not having my name out there is primarily a safety concern. Thankfully, I mostly tend to keep my badge inside my bag rather than around my neck, but I don't like the idea of having my first name as the most visible name on my badge.

Was this a common issue with the reg? I have a feeling that my fan name was lost somehow during the switch to Experient.

I heard there were some misprint issues such as this, things like Fan Name and Real Name being switched, different character sets between the two systems leading to certain special characters being printed as "?", names getting mixed up in groups, stuff like that.

Also thanks again for coming over to the Old School Gathering, your Lady Oscar was freaking spectacular in how ornate and accurate you looked - really amazing.  I caught a little of The Rose of Versailles on Monday morning in the Nostalgia Room to refresh myself of the series a bit (I really tried to do this with everything I saw at the OSG that was being screened at Fanime) and yeah, pretty incredible.

I had a misprint on the fan name for one of my group badges but that line was not worth it to get it fixed.

I'm not at all surprised that I was the only one with an issue. It's too late now, but is there anything that I could have done, other than stand in the giant reg line again? And maybe some comments from staff about this? It's a pretty big concern for me, again, for safety and privacy reasons. I'm okay with my name being small on the badge, where you would have to get close and really look in order to see it, but having it be the largest name on there worries me.

(It would also be great to have some comments from the con on why the reg systems were switched so close to con, but I seriously doubt we're going to get any!)

I had a lot of fun! Thank you for hosting it. :] I'm going to watch the Project A-ko DVD I won in the raffle once I have some free time. It was easily the best gathering I went to all weekend, and the fact that I'm laughing and/or smiling in all the candid shots of the gathering that I'm in says a lot, I think.

And thank you so much! I'm honestly not a big fan of the series (shoujo ain't my jam), but I love her character a lot, so I wanted to do right by her with my costume. :]

(Also, not sure if anyone noticed, since this is such a tiny detail, but the sword I carry with Oscar is actually Juri Arisugawa's sword, from Revolutionary Girl Utena...mostly, I didn't have time to make a new sword for Oscar, haha)

Oh, no problem at all, thank you!  I was stoked to see so many people attend.  When I saw you I thought, "Utena? ..no!" and then my mind quickly ran through all the anime I've taken a peek at over the past two months, "Princess Knight.. no, Rayearth.. no, ...The Rose of Versailles!"

We are aware that some badges went out with information that should not have been in some fields. We are looking to remedy these issues for Fanime 2017. On behalf of our Registration department I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you this weekend.

Thank you for your reply. I'm glad this is being addressed.

This was practically Utena con for me, but you caught me on the only day I /didn't/ have a cosplay from the series! (I also sang entirely Utena music at karaoke this weekend. I have a problem.) I've actually gotten that confusion a lot with Oscar, though, so you're not alone.

I think it was happening quite a bit actually. I caught the misprint on mine (the put my real name instead of my fan name) because I noticed someone ahead of me having their badge fixed.
