I see a lot of good names put out for this thread. I hope that Fanime will support local bands as well, at the very least for an opening act. It will give those local bands some good attention since Music Fest brings in so many people every year, and honestly I can't see how it would hurt.

Worse case scenario, the crowd can just look forward to the main act. Best case scenario, the crowd discovers good, new music, along with the main act. This just happened to me with the recent ONE OK ROCk live in SF. The opening band was really good and I'm glad ONE OK ROCK picked them. So please Fanime, hear me out and give the locals a chance!

I gotta put my vote for ONE OK ROCK! Considering they just played that SF show (which I missed so maybe Fanime is my chance?), Fanime doesn't seem too far off, right? A lot of people's suggestions were solid and I feel like I would love to see most of those acts (AKFG, Porter Robinson, etc.). They all have something interesting for us to hear! There seem to be a lot of different possibilities with Japanese acts coming to the states to perform more often these days. Could always see if there's Aoi Eir or any other well known Ani-song singer out there right now! Those get the crowds (and my interest).

I like this! I think it'd be nice to always give local bands a chance. If they are opening acts, then they don't need to take up a large time slot either. 30 minute sets just to warm up the main act and the crowd, and like LGstryker says, some people might find a way to find something awesome! I unfortunately wasn't able to catch ONE OK ROCK (even though I am in the area lol) but I think it's pretty awesome that they gave local bands a chance. Of course, ONE OK ROCK had jurisdiction themselves, so there is quality control in these! I had also seen a local band mentioned while in this thread. I gave them a listen and they fit the bill - it's relevant to our love for Japanese culture and it's interesting. So, I say consider Coast in the Clouds - why not?

MusicFest and FanimeCon need music variety since there has not been any good music guests. Hopefully this will fill the void. Trust me, do check these bands out. and as for Mega Ran, HE SHOULD BE A GUEST OF HONOR for Fanime. He's awesome, down to earth, knows his stuff and his raps coverning from mega man to FF7 are hella dope. seriously.

Besides hoping for Da-iCE to return someday(srsly they were truly amazing last year, I can't thank Fanime enough <3333 ) I'll list others I'd love to see. xD I know I also mentioned Granrodeo though. :3 But I didn't quite make a full list of suggestions, so here we go. XD

I would really love for TOTALFAT or SPYAIR to come to Fanime!!

TOTALFAT are a punk band and are very energetic! They've done an ending theme song for naruto shippuden. Would be awesome to see them perform! And the guys seem very awesome too!!

SPYAIR has done a couple of anime songs for gintama, gundum, bleach, haikyu etc! I saw them in japan and would love to see them live again!

I'm slipping out of retirement to say something quickly. can we PLEASE announce the musical guest already? It took me a long time to take what forum members say. 1. don't go to the con if all your doing is having a bad time. and 2. Go somewhere else (In which I'm under the process of) I've been going to Fanime for the past years mainly for the musical guest. I at LEAST want to know before the hotel deadline so I can adjust my plans and see whether or not the music guest is worth sticking around for or go somewhere else to enjoy myself.

It took a VERY long time for me understand and I tried all ways. Being polite, giving the convention and staff a hard time. But I learned it really doesn't do anything. I learned by getting angry and just spouting out hate is simply unproductiv. It wastes my time and energy and it also wastes everybody else's time and energy as well. I really don't think it's unreasonable to ask that all guest announcement are made before the hotel deadline. That way, I can at LEAST plan things out.

Just FYI to anyone reading, MusicFest's twitter has begun dropping hints of who they got to come.

• First hint: 5 member group.
• Second hint: They've traveled to the US before.
• Possible hint: May not have been to Fanime before.
• Third hint: their first studio album reached #10 on the Oricon weekly charts.
• Fourth hint: Lyrical content of one of their songs:
  
• Fifth hint: First major single hit # 3 on the Oricon daily chart & # 10 on the weekly chart.
• Sixth hint: The group originally formed in 2015

Ah yes, I saw their twitter yesterday. 5 member group, huh?? (Do you think it's possible Da-iCE is returning??? I wouldn't be upset about that at all..... *ahem* <3333 )

But that does leave Boys and Men out. But getting them would be difficult, as they are a large group(but it's a dream of mine to see them.... D: )

Actually... he's still in the running as part of his 5 member group, X4. They're one of my top guesses for who our guest is. I just wish that it was easier to listen to their stuff, because nearly everything on youtube is blocked in the US.

I can get why it'd be annoying for someone who still hasn't decided to come to Fanime, but for my friends and I, we're Sherlock Holmes-ing this thing with spreadsheets and research. We originally had 22 possible groups, and I'm going to go through the list now and eliminate those who don't fit the second clue. So...the guessing is fun while we wait for everything to be set in stone. If anything, it means that we're really close to having an announcement soon.

Edit: We've gotten the list down to about 10 groups. Who knows if we're even close to right, though.
