I think there's a fairly good chance of AKFG coming over, isn't there?  I remember the Tofu Records panel lady mentioning that they asked if AKFG would be interested in coming over to the US, and I think they were just... in awe, I guess?  Or at least, that's what I think she said.

Nonetheless, it'd psych me out if they performed here.  I'm still strong on inviting UVERworld... their recent single is awesome.  Though I know that those that haven't heard of UVERworld before and see them at MusicFest (that is, if they come and perform)--especially girls--will be quite taken.

('Cause ya know, I sure am.  I mean the vocalist, really... -melts-)

The chance of AKFG coming over to the US is probably fairly good, but it would be a lot greater if people buy their domestic releases through Tofu Records to actually show that people want them here. They're a really popular band, and so if their label is going to invest money into bringing them over, there needs to be solid evidence in CD sales in the states to show that there will be support.

But as for them coming to MusicFest, I'm not so optimistic. Because AKFG is pretty damn popular, I really see AKFG playing somewhere like Otakon because they'll be gauranteed an audience of at least 10,000. Unless there's somehow a venue in San Jose within walking distance from the convention center that can hold much more than 3,000 folks for MusicFest (or an orderly shuttle service thing that can escort lots of people to said venue), I don't really know if their record label will be willing to spend the money to send them to Fanime to play for a relatively small crowd if they can go somewhere else where they'll have 10,000 come see them. In the end, it all comes down to money and who'll be willing to foot the bill for a band like AKFG. I would absolutely LOVE it if they could come to Fanime though, but because of how popular they are, I'm not sure if their record label would make that financial risk for MusicFest. They'd probably focus on Otakon or AX. In the end, whoever has the money will make the choices.

That said and done,  I still hope they come and play for MusicFest LOL :) It's just the logical part of my brain isn't too optimistic. And I think too much of why they wouldn't come so I don't get disappointed LOL.

UVERworld is awesome :) I like the stuff that I've heard from them so far, and yes, Takuya is a pretty good looking vocalist. He's really got an amazing voice. However, they are a relatively new band in the mainstream, and I can imagine them trying to establish not only a solid fanbase within Japan first, but also a distinctive sound that can separate them from everyone else. I mean, they've only really got one single out, and their 2nd single isn't out for another 3 weeks. But I agree that It definitely would be awesome if we could get them come for MusicFest! From their tv appearances, they seem like a band that'll be fun to watch as well as hear.

Has anyone suggested HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR yet? I think they'd be cool to see too LOL. They're also relatively new in the mainstream, and could probably be in the same position as UVERworld as far as establishing themselves, but they've got a lot more material out xD

i think you crazzy kats should have katsuya terada as a guest . I don't know if you fanime guys would be afraid to have him as a guest or not cuz his stuff can be controversial.
But I think it'd be a good step in the right direction if you had him as a guest .

Pun intended: I've crossposted this on another post, but it needed to be said: bring the I've girls.

You're right--and that goes for many of the musical guests mentioned here as well, doesn't it?  As much as we'd love to see them at MusicFest, statistics and money and all that stuff matters... which is an unfortunate matter.  But hopefully we'll be very lucky!

Yes, I'm glad I found someone who agrees!  Takuya is one talented singer--not to mention, the rest of the band is extremely talented as well.  Judging from their PVs and live performances, they're into their music when they play, which definitely makes a great stage presence!  It'd be great if they could come.  HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR sounds like a good candidate as well.

hakudoushi

pierrot. pieeeerrot. do you think they could come? o_O

Yes, it does go for a lot of the artists suggested here, and it really doesn't hurt to mention them at all just in case we do get lucky xD It's a good start to put all the names out there xD I sometimes get carried away with the logical sides of things, so I hope all my babble doesn't discourage people from suggesting any and all of the people they wish to see. Hell, I want to see NEWS (hahaha, I feel so lame), but what are the chances of that happening? Hahaha. xD

UVERworld is definitely a band to keep an eye on. Ever since I first heard D-tecnoLife, I was hooked because it was so damn catchy. And CHANCE! is an awesome song for a 2nd single! I really can't wait to hear what else they've got in store for us. Takuya has such a great voice, and he knows how to blend his beatboxing so perfectly with rock. When I saw them on Melodix a while back, he did some freestyle beatboxing, and I was REALLY impressed. Anyway, it would be great for them to come to MusicFest, especially since people will know about them from the Bleach opening theme xD

Hmm, another person I might be interested in seeing as a guest would be Kawabe Chieko. Her songs are pretty relaxing to listen to, and two of her songs, "Hoshi negai o" and "cry baby" were ending themes for Otogizoushi. And she also showed up in the Live Action version of Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon, as well as the musical stage version of Sailor Moon as Sailor Mercury. LOL.

Very unlikely to happen, but if it does, then please consider girls other than KOTOKO too.  She does some good stuff, but I prefer MAKO, Ayana, and Lia.  STEPHANIE, the American I'VE singer, would probably be the most within reason.  She's already going to be a guest of honor at the JTAF this year.

Never knew there was an American I've singer...but perhaps we can get her over here. ^_^

But still, we must hold out hope. :3 I'd offer my soul for KOTOKO, Lia, and Ayana.

I told Tony about her and hopefully, he'll get in touch with her at JTAF or e-mail her. I'll be going to Jtaf, so I will talk to her as well, if he doesn't get the chance.

Has anyone ever heard of Shounen Kamikaze? They've got some pretty catchy stuff, and I think they'd make a good MusicFest guest xD Apparently, they've just make their official major debut today with their 1st major single. I was a little surprised because the last time I checked up on them, they were still an indies band.

You can also check out some of their PVs/video clips at:

(and if you do a little navigating, you can also find camino's PV for "Lovin' moon" on there as well xDDD It'd be a dream to see them for MusicFest again >< Watching their PV brings back fond memories :))
