Quote from: OhsuUm...I think their prices were fine...50c on all the fighting games were a good choice...they need to make up money and such...and ppl WILL play it, whether it's MvC2 or CvS2 or other old games.
as much as i would hate to admit it, yea, 0.50 per game was a good move, profit-wise. 0.50 per game will only deter the newbs, but a true gamer would be willing pay that price for good competition and that's where the arcade industry make their money. off of competitive gamers, not random newbs who just don't have anything else to do at the moment.

Even with the two upsides you mentioned, I don't see that happening at all. Sorry.

edit Allow me to explain myself.

I'd imagine that a small part of the money made from registration is used to offset the cost of contracting OCE. If you make it open to the public, the many people who register and play games will just end up playing games. It's profit for OCE, but a loss for Fanime.

I think they would've done that by now if it meant more profit. Same with the Dealers' Hall. Maybe even the Fanarts Center/Artists' Row.
wait a min, i thought OCE and Fanime would be splitting the profit from the machine? you mean at 0.50 a game, OCE takes 100% of it?

...to be honest, I don't really know. ^^; If Fanime did make profit, it probably would also go towards the contraction of OCE.

i got an idea. if the upper fanime management guys demands that the arcade & consoles be in the same room, then why don't we keep the arcade by the entrance doors and leave the consoles buried further in the back of the room.

so for those who don't have a badge, they would only be able to walk into the room up to a certain point, while those with a badge, would be free to walk to the far corners of the room.

this way the arcade area can remain public, while the consoles remain secure.

You know how much that'd suck when they attempt to organize the Swap Meet (if it is going to be in the same place?)

Its an idea. We're lookin into trying a different configuration and position. With E-Gaming know what the really heck to do in that exhibit hall, we got an idea of how to use it (properly and with some new ideas)

So what you're saying is...you, your friends, and other "make arcades public" are going to pay for damages to the arcade machines like what happened all the years it was public? No? Then that's your answer!!

SC2 wasn't balanced if the person hasn't played SC3. I knew a guy who made me play on gamecube, weird controls compared to PS2, and I totally pwned him over and over and over because he wasn't used to a faster pace of fighting

(is it my imagination, or am i getting an attitude?)

anyway, enlighten me a little bit, but the only damage i'm aware of is the DDR machine being rotated to avoid the glaring sunlight, but we don't have to worry about sunlight anymore in the new location. what other damages has there been, besides the usual button mashing newb or angry 6 year old who doesn't know how to play the game that shows up to every arcade?

and for the record, me and most of my friends are arcade enthusiasts, so we KNOW how to treat arcade machines.

I never said your friends would be the ones to damage it...merely that we've been told my staff that they have gotten damaged in previous years when they were made public. Thus I'm saying that if they ARE to be made public and something happends....Fanime staff should not be the ones to pay to fix the machines, as they would be doing it against their better judgment.
