I asked Tony a while back, and it seems like he had a bunch of bands on standby. Thing is, he can't announce guests or bands until they sign a contract.

Chances are the guest list will get increases in huge floods. Like, we'll find out there are 5 bands and two more guests a month beforehand, and then guests and bands will trickle in as the contracts are signed.

At least, I'm pretty sure that's what the situation is at the moment.

*cries* but what bout us who dun really care for bands ;_;!! I want something other than music guests, or at least get some jpop guests i'd be ok with that!!!!! ;_; please fanime get something!!!!!

Any japanese seiyu guests lined up in the future?

Not that I know of.

The cry of most Fanime attendees lately has been to lower the amount of Bands and increase the number of guests. I think that while we desire more guests, we should also be courteous to those who agree to come to fanime. I know that I would be insulted if I offered my time and energy to come do a panel at Fanime and then hear that the Fanime attendees wanted 'better' guests.

While the desire for more guests (and arguably, more notable guests) is a legitimate one, we should also be careful not to insult the ones who are already willing to come out on our behalf.

I personally haven't said "lower the amount of bands plzzzzz"

I'm simply asking can we get guests that aren't just for the music event for fanimeee?? I mean can we have voice actors/artists/ ANYTHING? along with the music bands???

I agree! I like to see the bands and the guests, but I'm not seeing either listed. Anime Central is only 2 weeks before Fanime and they have a huge list of guests and bands posted (including my fave High and Mighty Color). Is Fanime hiding it's guests until the last minute?

otakuya

Honestly, I'd like more American VAs (like what Fanime used to have):
Vic, Spike, Amanda W-L, Wendee, Crispin, Veronica, Johnny Yong, etc...

C'mon, you know who these people are!

(Some may also remember Rob Paulson from AOD 2006. Maybe him too? ^_~)

Putting the official hat aside (meaning, I'm not speaking for Fanime or programming) and speaking a little from personal experience, working with other people outside of Fanime puts you on their time schedule, not yours. So, you can have everything planned out down to the date, and the other people can and will blow your carefully planned schedule to hell. And sometimes, it's even you who's responsible for blowing it because you got sick, personal situations came up, or you just needed a break from your split personality lives.

Anyways, I think I can say that those of us at Fanime who put in a ton of hard work to get our guests would have loved to give you something as early as January...

Oh, putting the official hat on for a sec, Fanime does have some guests to announce soon.. I think they have to do with music fest... I think I heard it's probably going to be longer than just a night.... something about one of them only playing on Thursday night as a "we so totally got lucky they wanted to play at Fanime again before going on to their big weekend gig".. I wasn't really paying attention (give me a break, it's my glorified 4 day weekend my dumb butt college calls a spring break), but you know, that sort of announcement.

I'm glad to hear that some guests are going to be announced soonish! I don't mean to annoy the staff begging for guests and I do appreciate all the hard work the staff does. It's just a little depressing when I browse other con pages and they have a bunch of guests lined up, and then I look over here and theres nothing. But I can't wait to see who is lined up! [Sits and waits patiently]  :)

i don't care when announcements of guests are made, but i just want guests that appeal to me, i mean what about people who go to cons who don't care for musicfest? It just depresses me because all i hear is good news for people who like jrock/bands, but never anything about voice acotrs, or artists etc... for guests

You haven't heard anything YET. And I'd just like to add this -- every anime convention features voice actors and artists. It's a given. But not every convention... *rarely* every convention features jrock artists and even less conventions feature jpop artists. That's why Fanime is awesome for catering to people who DO want to see jrock artists perform every now and then. Other conventions hardly put emphasis on music at all.

Also, in case you guys don't get the PLAY! Symphony newsletter, they recently announced that they are coming to San Jose in cooperation with Fanime on May 26th. Now, you don't get in free of course, but it is pretty awesome that it's going to be there. I bought my 100 dollar ticket already...but ticket prices start around 32 bucks.

Should be fun!

Whoa...what do you get for the $100 ticket? It better be awesome for that price. If only the schedule was out (and I know that's WISHFUL thinking) so I knew if this was going to conflict with other events.
