Any shounen manga out there with shoujo characteristics?

Or shoujo manga with shounen characteristics?

And something like "a little drama" or a "little slap/punch/school fight" doesnt count >.> If they did, then almost every anime/manga would count xD

Uh...so yeah. The only one I can think of now is Kyou Kara Maou >.> It's got bunches of drama but also bunches of war and stuff. Also some yaoi/shounen-ai implications, but yaoi fans(population: 98% girls) can go ga-ga over those and non-yaoi fans(population: 80% guys) can laugh and take it as a joke.

Well, Princess Nine was kind of in between and I don't CARE WHAT ANN HAS IT UNDER!...lol..

You have the shonen aspect of hotblooded baseball action. Then you have the shoujo part of girls owning the living days out of male players in games showing some sort of superiority.

I don't think it would target one way or the other. Guys can watch this for the baseball and the girls can watch the guys getting their ass beat in baseball.... so yeah. Nuff said on this matter.

Ayanami Rei First Child

Kashi Mashi AKA When Girl Meets Girl

Girls can watch it for the shoujo storyline and romance.

Guys will watch it because they love seeing lesbians.

Tenchi Muyo has a good amount of action and it's harem like...but it's written by a woman and apparently most of the fans who write in are women as well...o.o;;

Natsume Yuujincho (only available in Japanese >:D)

Run by Hana to Yume, a shoujo-manga magazine.

Main character male, Support character cat ayakashi (male), and there is no hint of a love-life at all. More run by the shounen jump manga aspects of "friendship, determination, victory".

Story is about returning "names" of ayakashi(Asian ghouls).

Dolls (possibly only available in Japanese)

Run by Zero-sum (loveless, Amatsuki).

Main characters all-male.  Support characters all mostly male, only 3 sub-main female characters in story.

Story is about executioners. Absolutely no feel of shoujo manga in it.

Uh...Kashimashi ~Girl Meets Girl~ is pretty much about as UN shounen as you can possibly get <_< ESPECIALLY the manga (the anime is a little sillier.)

I dont quite know about manga, but....for anime I would say that a very good example of a shoujou anime with shounen overtones would be Mahou Shoujou Lyrical Nanoha A's. Its a magcal girl anime, and the overall themes and feel are VERY shoujou... but the combat (which is frequent) is about as hardcore as it gets without blood or bodyparts. Fast-paced and hard-hitting.

As for shounen manga with shoujou qualities.....I dont really know. Shounen isnt really my thing ^_^0 Maybe Prince of Tennis? Or Love Hina...but Im not entirely sure I'd count that as shounen to begin with...

1. It was serialized in Weekly Shounen Magazine.
2. It's a harem series.
3. (IIRC) It features fanservice.

I think Love Hina's pretty damn shounen. XD

Well I wasnt sure if harem was an "aspect of shounen" or not XD

And Ive never really attributed fanservice to shounen, either XD

They're pretty diagnostic qualities if you ask me.

Typical shounen anime qualities: emphasis on action; supernatural powers with long names that are shouted out when used; fanservice; girls with huge breasts; main characters are adolescent males; giant robots; lesbians; harems; slapstick comedy.

Typical shoujo anime qualities: adolescent female main characters; reverse harems; bishounen and/or yaoi; girls with small breasts; emphasis on love and confession; situational/character comedy; rose-framed scenes.

A good example of an anime that combines elements of both is Tsubasa Chronicle - it has action, supernatural powers with long names that are shouted out when used, a few types of comedy, bishounen (with mild shounen-ai undertones), girls with small breasts...
