Eyeshield 21 Gathering!

Okay. I know I screwed up royally at the Yaoi-con for those who were there, and I'm really sorry. I didn't realize that the con was on the 20-22nd, I thought it was the weekend after. I'm really bummed out (depressed beyond belief) that I didn't get to go, but I'm not going to let it get me down.

Now that that sob story/apology is out of the way, lets move on to the important topic shall we? Come hell or high water there is going to be an Eyeshield gathering at Fanime 2007 if I have crash every thread in the cosplay section and in a very Hiruma like style convince other cosplayers to get into the fandom and make a fuckin' costume for it!

But I'm hoping it wont come down to that fellow Eyeshield fans since I'm counting on you to come to Fanime in costume or not, take your pick. I've noticed that when I put up threads for Eyeshield gatherings they get alot of hits but very few replies. I want to make it clear that every fan of Eyeshield 21 is welcome at this gathering. Cosplayers, fanatics, photographers, anyone and everyone is welcome.

What we would mainly do at the gathering, if anyone was wondering, would be to just hang out; take pictures (embarressing and otherwise); meet other Eyeshield fans since they're so hard to find at these conventions...; etc. Fuck, if you want I'll bake cookies and bring them for you to eat. (Ignore the swearing, its not meant to be offensive. ^^; )

If we get enough people signed up on the thread and have a wide spectrum of characters, and given that we're all brave enough, we can even try for the masquerade if someone has their heart set on it. I'm game if you are. Hell if I can think up a skit though.

Yosh! So since I'm starting this thread in October you guys have seven months to reply and get your costumes ready and your affairs in order! So this year lets make it make it happen and recruit as many sorry bas- loyal fans as we can and make it big!

Kind of a nice idea to get a Eyeshield 21 topic here. I remember seeing a girl dressed as one of the Devilbats at this year's con. If I know what day this gathering would happen, maybe I could show up. No clue if I would cosplay as any of the characters (would pick either Shin due to the short hair or Natsuhiko Taki due to the chin hair).

Was she cosplaying Sena? If she was than that was me. I'll be bringing the costume back for '07. I hope you can cosplay, I have yet to see a Shin cosplayer outside of the japanese websites.

About the days, the whole point of the thread is bounce ideas back and forth and try to find a day that works for everybody. I'll also be going to the Naruto gathering so I'll have to plan around that.

Yeah, it was Sena I believe because of the 21 on the jersey. Well I only thought of Shin since I have short hair (downside is that I'm not as built as Shin and have facial hair). I mean I think the majority of the uniforms are easy to do, the only challenge would be hairstyles and accessories like Shin's gloves. Oh about the idea of finding a day for the Gathering, I'm also going to the Full Metal Alchemist Gathering so I understand the situation about trying to start up a gathering while also having to do another.

Well, the Naruto gathering is on Saturday so that leaves me with Friday and Sunday or possibly Monday. (The FMA gathering hasn't seemed to have picked a date so drop hints for Sat.)

I've also been given an invitation to bring this gathering to the Shonen Jump gathering. I've PMed the coordinater to try and work something out so that these can be on the same day.

I agree that the hairstyles are pretty hard to do. I've spent many hours cursing out the wig I made for my Sena cosplay and I still don't think it looks right. One way around this is to do nothing with your hair and just carry around the football helmet, and when someone asks for a photo you put it on. But really, all you have to do with any costume is get the character's hair right and you can use any outfit you want that they've worn in the series or even ones they haven't. Its a lovely loophole.

I'm not too sure about the FMA Gathering thing, but it could be on a Sunday like it was this year. As for progress of where I am in the E21 story, I've been keeping up with the US manga and finished volume 10 (the end of the Death March) and up to I believe episode 36 in the anime via Youtube (I try to watch up to where I last read in the manga).

I'm still unsure about it since I've been trying to think up of some other cosplays for Fanime 07, so far I only have Greed (FMA) set up for the day of the Gathering, which has about 3-4 slots availible (4 only if I can go Friday) and I've gone brainstorming for ideas. So far I have only thought up of Rock Howard (Garou: Mark of the Wolves, but I'm lacking the jacket which is the toughest part), Domon (G Gundam, pretty easy but need to find a red cape and a small red hairband), Argo (G Gundam, also easy but have to make the shackles and the X thing across his chest), Miroku (Inuyasha, might be challenging but could be doable if I find the items and make the gloves/staff), so I'm still looking to go with ideas I can go with.....that and be able to go too.

IF I even manage to get to fanime I`ll dress as Habashira (which is my default ES21 cosplay) or Agon when I can manage to make fake dreads look good :3

You have the tounge to do Habashira? If you go as Agon, will it be in football uniform or in the monk like clothing?

Monk like clothing for Agon.  I personally like how he looks in it more than the football outfit. (Or how he used to look like before the dreds :D)

I used to have a fake tounge piece for Habashira. (It`s easy to make in case I lose the one I have) I just have to make a wig because my hair is now officially blonde :<

Hey there ES21 peeps! I would love to have you come and represent at the "Jump"gathering! ^^)
Here is what I know about gatherings:
naruto and bleach seem to swap days every year so this year Bleach is on Sunday so Naruto will most likely be on Saturday. The big FF gatherings has been on Saturday for three years.

FFVII is looking at Saturday and FFVIII is on Sunday after the "Jump" Gathering @ 3pm. Since a group of us will be doing Bleach then Jump then FFVIII, I will not be able to take pics if you schedual your gathering from 12 to 3 pm on Sunday, and I would like to ^^) .

Just food for thought, so be sure and post in the Official Gatherings List thread your gathering info
....and if you are interested in joining in on "Jump" then please post which character from Eyeshield 21.
