Mattie-Wattie'sâ,,¢ Current Lucky Star Ratings
1. Tsukasa Hiiragi
First of all, Tsukasa reps the Akari Kamigishi look, which is made of win. Second of all, she's slow. Third, she procrastinates.

And last, but not least, balsamic vinegar. God-tier.

2. Minoru Shiraishi
In pigtails? Hot like Yoshinoya.

2. Konata Izumi
Like everyone else who continues to watch the show, I have a lot of things in common with her - including but not limited to always thinking from the otaku perspective, so to speak. Oh, and :3

4. Yui Narumi
She parties hard. Gotta respect that. In addition, she drives a mean car, she colon-threes like Konata, and she doesn't take her work seriously, which I can empathize with. XD

4. Miyuki Takara
She wears glasses (although the image of her 3.3 is cute too); she's a klutz; she has that somewhat refined elegance about her - she's a force to be reckoned with, but not a character I can empathize much with.

4. Souichirou Izumi
I want his camera. I think he's the splitting image of my potential fatherhood. XD It's pretty sad, actually.

7. Akira Kogami
Yandere bothers me a bit more than tsundere. Nevertheless, when she is in cute hyper mode, she's pretty cool. When she goes berserk/depressed, it would've killed Lucky Channel for me if Shiraishi wasn't there to be the boke.

7. Kagami Hiiragi
Kagami appears to be the most 'normal' person, but she also seems the most angry, short-fused, and irritable, and I'm not a fan of traits like that, even if they do lend to the comedy of the show. If paired with Konata or Tsukasa, she'd probably rank much higher.

7. Nanako Kuroi
I like the fang, and I think she speaks Kansai-ben? What else is there, though? I need to see more of her - but in situations comparable to episode 6.

Note: The way ties appear to be 'ranked' does not indicate favor (e.g. I don't favor Shiraishi over Konata, nor Yui over Miyuki or Souichirou).

omg, just wait till Yutaka and Minami comes in the series, it's gonna be bananas.

I'll do my char rankings later, need sleep.

But Tsukasa + twintails = very high tier

Tsubasa

Lets see....

1. Kagami
I'm admittedly a fan of tsukkomi characters and Kagami's tsukkomi is high tier.  I also find her tsundereish tendencies very cute.

2. Konata
Much of the initial "we're so similar"-type mentality has given way to "I relate with her a lot, but not all the time."  As far as I'm concerned, that's all her character is built on and I really don't see a whole lot of appeal otherwise.  That's not to say that doesn't carry her far.  Hell, I put her at #2.

3. Miyuki
I don't care for tennen boke.  Doji is negligible.  Meganekko is OK, but I'm not particuarily a fan.  Ojou's starting to get good.  What makes Miyuki for me is her explanations.  I've loved girls who explain everything since Washu.

4. Nanako
She tsukkomis in kansai-ben.  That's about it really.  That's her character for me.

From here, everyone might as well be lumped together cause I don't care enough to have clear distinctions in ranking between them.  This includes: Tsukasa, Yui, Akira, Minoru, and Souichirou.

My rankings, with poorly explained reasoning:

1. Kagami
She is a tsundere only to the extent that she doesn't give frustration to the viewer, which is appealing to me. I tend to like tsundere, but only after seeing the deredere side of them-- so I guess this applies to Kagami as well. Her reactions to jokes and situations are also entertaining, which serves most of my giggly parts of the comedy that Lucky Star has to offer to me-- like those cute little white flowery garnish that you find in a pretty bouquet.

2. Konata
Quote from: TsubasaMuch of the initial "we're so similar"-type mentality has given way to "I relate with her a lot, but not all the time." As far as I'm concerned, that's all her character is built on and I really don't see a whole lot of appeal otherwise. That's not to say that doesn't carry her far. Hell, I put her at #2.

3. Tsukasa
She's adorable. There are so many things that other characters influence her to do, which she tends to make 10x cuter, because it's her. She wore the To Heart seifuku, while she already resembled Akari in some way already. I can't say that didn't amuse me for a good amount of time. She looked cute in a ponytail, pigtails... and while text messaging! Another good thing is that she is cute to a good amount-- not entirely overwhelming where something is so cute, it's sickening.

And...
Quote from: SpiritsnareAnd last, but not least, balsamic vinegar. God-tier.

4. Miyuki
Miyuki-- she's smart, she's sweet, has a body that girls wish for, and her personality is lovely.. She's like a rainbow of cliches-- GOOD cliches. She has this airy oujo-sama demeanor that she carries with her, at the same time, being a clutz when it is forgivable. You'd have to agree-- her missing her appointment, her bus stop, walking into walls, being afraid of the dentist... would it be as awesome if done by another character? She also serves as a good balance for all the other characters.

5. Sebastian
Sebastian~ His nervousness and role as a minor character is... how do I describe this-- I really don't know, but he's so cool. XD; I like his character very much, but I didn't expect it to be so hard for me to explain. He's a dork, a pushover, and... in Lucky Channel, I'm pretty sure he makes that section worth watching. It's fun watching him get abused by Akira, and if Akira just so happens to be start annoying me, Sebastian makes me feel better.

6. Souichirou
He makes me wish I had a father figure in my life. He makes me wish that I had a father like THAT. XD;

He won't accuse me of wasting my money on what I buy, share interests and opinions, be my friend, and a father. With how enthusiastic he is about Konata's life, it's heartwarming.

7. Yui
She's an aunt that you can be friends with at the same time-- I'd love to have that. Also, her cluenessness as an adult supervisor puts her at a comfortable level with all the other girls in the series. She also has :3

And I enjoy watching her yawn in the OP.

8. Nanako
Kansai-ben-- I used to dislike it when my aunts would speak it, since it's really loud and annoying at times, just like when my parents speak Cantonese. But until characters from other series *cough*hayate*cough*influenced me on how Kansai-ben can be appealing-- even CUTE, made me like it a lot more... sort of like how some Cantonese dramas and music with cute girls made me enjoy listening to the language more. It's nice to hear once in a while... almost welcoming. She also plays an MMORPG with her student, dealing DPS outside of the classroom. She's a teacher students can relate to, but she's doing her best to assume her authority.... sort of.

9. Akira
She's fun to watch, I admit. Her comedic fake cute idol-behavior is annoying, but how quick she can change from that to a an agitated actress with a 45-year old personality and temper... it's pretty darn amusing. She annoys me at times, though. I blame Sebastian for getting me to like her character at all.

well, after hearing one of the guys at school talking about this, i finally gave in and started watching this. and...well...damn. im sold.

good lord, i love Tsukasa. and her mayo addiction. why? because i have a mayo addiction. ask any of my friends who went to high school with me. they know what i love to put on burgers, fries, etc. and oh, the pain, when the cafeteria ran out of mayo packets. i had to use ranch as a substitute. it just wasn't right...

O_O

uhhhh...anyway...Tsukasa + mayo = YES.

Magical Senpai

Miyuki is mai waifu. No seriously, my girlfriend and Miyuki share the same mannerisms, even down to the complaining about the multiple dentist trips. XD

Emerge

okay, i just watched the 2nd episode. now, i REALLY feel as if Tsukasa and I are WAAAAAY too alike. we already have the mayo thing out of the way, and now we have these 2 things:

1. we both LOVE to sleep. a lot.

2. we both procrastinate. a lot.

jeez...

if they give her a passion for martial arts, i'm just gonna lose it...

ININ

I watched 10 episodes during my lunch break at work last week.  When I watch anime, I skip the opening and ending because I have one hour.  Not Lucky Star.  I must watch the opening and ending.  Is it just me that in order to watch an episode, I have to watch the opening to get myself psych up for the episode?  The opening is my all time favorite opening for all anime I have watched =)

My favorite character is Konata because she reminded me when I was in 4th grade.  After school, I went home and watch TV.  No homework.  No after school activities whatsoever.  I didn't want to miss GI JOE and Transformers.

Question on the store employees scene.  Was it a parody from another anime series?

LastElixir

I believe the store manager is taken straight from "Anime Tenchou", the mascot of the "Animate" company in Japan. Theres a small manga series out by the company with the same title and the other characters that were featured in ep10 were from that manga series. I also heard that Anime Tenchou was made to oppose their rival company "Gamers" mascot; Digi Charat.

haha I can't take credit for this reference as I had to do some asking too. I had no idea animate even had a mascot this "thick", but I love it.

Sorry: currently*, she does not.

*I actually have to use the word 'currently' because Lucky☆Star is the kind of anime that can pull a fast one on you. But I find the actual thought of Tsukasa knowing kung fu a bit...ehh...

hell, she doesn't have to KNOW a martial art. her having an interest in something like PrideFC would be enough for me :D

No pigtails, but let's just say that karma bit Akira on her bitter little ass and Sebastian got the run of the segment :D

Too bad for Sebastian that Akira's bound to recover at some point, though...

Tsubasa

To substantiate my theory before that Lucky Star takes place in 2006, I've read up somewhere that if one were to try to apply the dates in episode 12 to dates IRL, Konata and crew attended day three of Comiket 71, which was the Winter '06 Comiket.

And apparently if one where to take the map Konata outlined to the Hiiragi sisters, that covers East Hall 123.  Referring to the Comiket 71 catalog, it has been determined that much of Konata's marks were Haruhi ero. lawl  There's a Marimite book thrown in there too.

omg wtf does konata do with those books, omgshoeswtfbbq. This is very inappropriate for an anime show and I am DEEPLY offended.
