Quote from: TsubasaI never really tried to distill my favorites of favorites into a list of 5.  I find myself having a hard time.

My top 3 would probably be:

-Martian Successor Nadesico
-Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha A's
-ToHeart

From there, there are a few other titles and I'm not sure which ones to advance to the list: Happy Lesson, Slayers NEXT, Saber Marionette J, AIR, and Kanon.

And then there are those that I'd also consider, but I'd rather consume them in other forms: Card Captor Sakura (manga) and Sakura Taisen (game).

I think I'll just leave the list of 3.... ^^;

It's all about SMJ and Slayers NEXT!

1. Cherry is moe.
2. Ragna Blade blew my mind back in the day.
2. Zelgadis is moe.

Air
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Code Geass
Fruits Basket
. . .
Is that it?

I thought you had a bit of an obsession with Fate/stay night?
Let's just say the anime wasn't up to par.
Though, don't say that to my previous forumites. They'd kill me for such heresy >.>
(Especially Royal Knight.... god, I miss the big lug).

I see where he's coming from.  The FSN anime covered only about half of the game and didn't cover what's considered by many to be the best scenario: Heaven's Feel.  It didn't even have the epic conclusion to the Unlimited Blade Works scenario.

Jigoku Shoujo

3. Shakugan no Shana

why is Vandread on top? because Pyoro Py0wnz j00

I LOVE the storyline and the ending of KnM, but IMO, the anime sort of... sucked. XD; The manga is really cool, though. I skipped through the mecha during the anime. (Don't kill me.)

I wouldn't put things in a specific order, given that I'm not INTO all that many animes...

...Haruhi Suzumiya is respectable because it has something for everyone. It has philosophy for those that like their entertainment deep, humor for those seeking something light of heart, and GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS for those who happen to like that sort'a thing. Haruhi's li'l brigade covers a whole BUNCH of moé traits in one season alone, most notably meido, bunny, fuku, 'silent girl', loli, the 'down-south' accent girl...
I like it because it does what it does well. It's certainly not the first anime ever to be deep, nor was it the first to have a gajillion moé girls running around at once, nor was it the first to have a hinted 'maybe he's yaoi', but it melds it all into one show quite nicely. And it's funny to see Haruhi pushing Kyon around. XD

Ranma ½ was my first sole anime love. It, too, has something for everyone, but in a far more simple fashion. It's got action for the average beef-jerky eating joe, comedy for the ones who take particular liking to laughing, and romance for those who enjoy it. Every character has SOMETHING that makes them specifically unique, and they all somehow contribute to the madness, if at least for a comment. Each one has their flaws, qualities, hangups... all without getting too emotional and/or involved with the character. Within a few episodes, you feel as if you relate to at least 3 of them, and could have a conversation with anyone there. The anime sort'a damaged the integrity of the story and characters, and the english dub moreso (what happened to Kasumi's intelligence and Gosunkugi's spine? They went missing somewhere... ;_; ), but they're all dear to me in some way or another. It's so easy to get caught up in Ranma and Akane's romance, the same way so many 'normal people' (PLEASE no references to my first JerryCon.) get caught up with Ross and Rachel of FRIENDS.

Princess Princess was a surprising one too. It detailed, in a rather unorthodox fashion, what it takes to be a MAN... integrity, honor, dedication. The humor mixed nicely with the drama.
Haven't been here much since '09. I said some stupid, stupid things before (and after) that.

Blood+? you gotta be kidding me, right? That series was crap all the way through. No matter how many times i tried getting into the story and characters, i just couldn't. and basically, Saya, THE Saya from the original Blood OVA got turned into a wimp, and when they tried to make her bad-ass again near the end of the series, the writers failed. It felt contrived and the writers did a great disservice to one of the most badass characters in anime. I felt cheated, really, I did.
