I was lurking and came across this and gave it a listen. Try Sidechaining. Doesn't sound like its doing it properly if you are. The tracks definitely need to be Mastered better. I have personally never been a fan of Cakewalk, their sound is almost that of FL-Studio. You have to tweak everything insanely just to get it to sound properly.. I strongly suggest Cubase, sound is really smooth even prior to throwing down some EQ. for Trancey synths for this Genre. I strongly suggest grabbing stuff from Re:Fx its a bit pricey. But worth it, I bought a copy of Vanguard quite awhile again. Still use it to this day. http://refx.com/?lang=en&page=home/latest As of late I have found Reason very fun for engineering synth sounds. =)
Duly noted. I have no idea what sidechaining is so perhaps I need to do it after all.
Which songs are you referring to, by the way? I've recently changed my setup to Logic Pro 8 and most of its contained VSTs. As for Mastering... I'm sort of learning as I go. P:

Sidechain Compression or ''Ducking'' is the effect of Using the signals to respond to eachother, So lets say you have your Kick as the signal to your Compressed Bassline. everytime the kick withdraws the bassline will raise in volume giving it kinda a push or breathing effect you can apply this to anything, Pads, Percussion so on so on, makes them sound ALOT better. Let me give you a Tut, so you can understand it real quick without me having to get all technical =) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aZVV9-fxgI - here you are watch this. Sidechaining will make your track sound more fuller and it will give you more room to work with your sounds, it IS standard in any production method. So take time and read up on this. You will need to understand it fully.
