Question:A lady is riding in an elevator. All of a sudden the lights go out and the elevator stopped. She begins to cry because she knows her husband is dead. What happened?

K&K4ever

Was her husband working on the elevator?
The sun was raising up above the high
and dense entangled spider's web.  The dew
was dripping from the silky strings and down
through canopy to underbrush.  It splashed
the puddle making one more fountain spring.

Yup!

QUESTION:A politician wrote a long speech. How did it help his career even before he gave the speech?

K&K4ever

Did he give a copy to the reporters outside?

No no, she asked a question. That isn't enough to actually solve a puzzle. She'd actually have to conclude with an answer with the answers to her questions as clues. By confirming an answer, she'd have to make a guess and actually say, "Okay. Here's what I think it is. They were in a hospital, and she knew her husband was dead because he was under life-support, and by the power-outage, she knew that the hospital's back up generator shut down and killed him."

Did it somehow protect him from something?

Ahhh... my apologies. XD I wasn't sure since I've never done this before, but now I know.

Yes.

Jun-Watarase

Did it protect him from something political?

Or did it protect him from something physical?
