He shot him

Humm. With both of those answers it rules out Charles Julius Guiteau... back to the drawing board.

Because he had every intention of killing President Garfield. He borrowed the money to buy a gun and attempted to kill him once prior to the actual time he shot him. His "obsession" would have been that he believed that "God" wanted him to kill the president.

This case is important by "Case Law" standards because it was on of the first cases tried with the "Insanity" defense where Guiteau believed he was insane at the time of the shooting, but was not "medically" or "professionally" insane with which he hoped to get off. Ironic note... It took a lawyer to think of it. Guiteau was a lawyer.

So it wasn't necessarily "rage" but a planned assassination of President James Garfield. That's why I ruled him out.

Sorry, I was mainly going by Sondheim's rendition of the events, I guess I should have done a little more research ^^;

The man brought a sharp piece of ice(I forgot what the correct term was...) into a room, locked it then stabbed himself with it. Is that correct?

Yeah, you got it. I could've been a smartass and just answered "yes" because of the question at the end, but there's no point in doing that. When you recite the answer, don't ask questions. State it as what you think the answer is.

The man stabbed himself with a shard of ice in a locked room. The ice melted, which explains the blood and water around him. Good job, Castor!

FFFFFFF dude.  I wish I had known about this thread sooner, I saw that in an episode of Detective Conan except the guy froze the block of ice with a knife sticking out of it.

Ok, I'm gonna try this ^^)

Two men die on Friday. Their obsession lead to their deaths and their deaths are talked about to this day, but neither person had met the other.

Steve Irwin, killed while filming stingrays in Australia's Great Barrier Reef; and Timothy Treadwell, killed while filming grizzly bears in Katmai National Park, Alaska (along with his girlfriend, Amie Huguenard).
Life is too important to take seriously.  Seriously.

BSaphire

Sorry, I was trying to figure out how come the questions were so strange and for some reason the first part got erased, but I fixed it. So let's try this again:

Two men die on Friday. Their obsession lead to their deaths and their deaths are talked about to this day, but neither person had met the other.

So BunofGovt no it isn't Steve and Timothy.
