And just to add... you couldn't afford one if there was one here. Seeing that a super cheap night there would be 800-1k, and an expensive night would be upwards to 20k... yeah.

Doubt it. The majority people who assume they know what a host club is, especially those who discover them through OHSHC, normally don't. One being held in the U.S. would be impossible, due to legal reasons. Even if that wasn't a problem, people probably wouldn't invest that much money to create one.

Totally different. Gameshows, lottery, Sports Tournaments, Gambling all have possible payouts. People DO win the lottery, people do make money on game shows, people do make money gambling.

There are male-escort services, but if you think a host cafe is anything like getting an escort, you are sorely mistaken.

You walk in, and you pick from a book who you want your host to be(or you name them if you know their name). They will tell you if they're available, and how many women are already at his table. You then pay the entry fee, or you can pay a premium fee to get a special table where he will come and only you are there(though how long he stays there is everchanging). Now you sit there, and this guy acts like a guy you're on a date with. The flip is that, he's being nice so that you will buy more stuff. You will buy more drinks for him to drink, you will spend thousands on alcohol, with the premise that "hey... MAYBE just MAYBE I have a shot. It's why, basically only middle ages women who feel they have no hope getting a man, bored rich house wives, and girls that do similar work go to them. They KNOW they're being fooled, but it's just false hope.

On the hosts side it works like this. You basically lead on a girl over as long as possible. You don't over do it at the beginning, because then she feels she has nothing to work for, nothing to look forward to. So a hosts job is to basically string you as long as he possibly can, so you spend as much money as possible, and KEEP COMING BACK to spend even more. And to do this, you remove your emotions. You don't care about the people, you don't care about how you're literally screwing them over so they spend more money, and just put on a charismatic act.

So you're paying money to sit at a table, most likely with other women for him to tease you and charm you so that YOU will buy alcohol and what not, so the club makes money, and he gets comission. If you don't spend money, he'll ignore you and talk to the girl next to you that does.

On the other hand, rationally, the women go into a host bar fully aware that it's an illusion- and should they cross the line (sexual harassment works both ways), I do believe most establishments would have a policy of reinforcing the facts of the illusion swiftly (shady doesn't equal illegit- you'd only want to toe the line so far, most cases).

Whether or not they choose to deliberately forget the reality of the deal is a personal matter, otherwise.

It's escapism. While there are some serious moral quandaries with the varying levels of exploitation in specific bars, I'm personally not at all in favor of moralistic legislation. Keeping things above-table is good enough in most cases.
