Hellooo. This would be my second year going to Fanime. The first one I attended in 2005. In 2005 I didn't have my license but I did have someone driving me up and down from Salinas to San Jose every day. It got really annoying and I didn't really get to do much because of the time contraint and gas and whatever. This year (2008) I want to book a hotel. Problem is though that I've never actually been in a hotel as I don't go on vacations and whatnot.

When I reserve a hotel room for the days I choose, how do I pay? For example, say I have two friends who wish to stay with me. Would we be paying daily with cash or would they bill one person the full day?

Another thing is, is it obvious where parking is? I live out in the country and I get pretty nervous if I don't know where things are. Hahaha.

Last question. Even if rooms are made for two people, could I stick like 5 people in one room to share beds or do they have a rule against that? I ask because I would have liked to split the bill between friends instead of forking out 100+ between two people a night.

Thanks!

Good luck finding a hotel now, they've all been full for quite a while T_T

The billing would be charged to one person at the end of the trip. So be sure to collect the money from everyone beforehand, because whoever makes the reservation has to pay for it all.

Where the parking is usually depends on the hotel, but it's usually very well-marked. Some hotels also have valet parking, so you don't even need to worry about it. If not, they will show you where to park when you check in.

Legally, if a room is made for two people you're allowed to have two people. Those rules are there for fire safety and so the maids don't end up hideously overworked. If you want to get more than two people into a room, pay a little bit more and get a four-occupancy room. Overstuffing is dangerous, illegal, and reflects badly on Fanime. If they encounter enough instances of overstuffing a room, they can kick you out, and choose to not affiliate with Fanime in the future.

If you and your friend split a room it wouldn't be 100 a night each. You'd be paying like, 50 a night. or 150 for the whole weekend. In the end, having 4 people in a room makes it closer to 75...but if you look at the amount you save vs. the comfort of having your own bed and not having to swap out to the floor, 150 for the weekend doesn't sound bad.

My friend and I are splitting a 2-double room. Huzzah for not having to sleep on the floor.
